TOKYO – Gators resume action Thursday at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, competing in baseball, track & field, golf and soccer.

Baseball
Mark Kolozsvary<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__floridagators.com_roster.aspx-3Frp-5Fid-3D14678&d=DwIF-g&c=sJ6xIWYx-zLMB3EPkvcnVg&r=o5LKAX7slotfFMyE71jI7L22NYBIi1-KbRGNSXudTPo&m=uesA9oeKsGZT7_weEsR9nh5bJN2Jc1Ty0MsfOfcaSGQ&s=4m95v_jd64ldaD6goPACXlWaDK6uv0DbEhKEAfRmzTo&e= > and Team USA advanced to the Olympic gold-medal game with a 7-2 victory over Korea in the semifinals on Thursday morning. The United States will now compete for gold in a rematch against Japan on Saturday, Aug. 7 at 6 a.m. ET.

Kolozsvary received the start behind the plate for the fifth time in as many games at Tokyo 2020. Batting seventh in the Team USA order, Kolozsvary went 1-for-3 with a single, walk and stolen base. Overall, the former Gators backstop is batting .235 (4-for-17) in Olympic play and has caught all 46 innings for the United States in Tokyo.

Regardless of the outcome of Saturday’s gold-medal game, Team USA is guaranteed to turn in their best Olympic finish since the 2000 games in Sydney, when the Stars and Stripes brought home their first and only gold. The United States has never earned a silver medal in baseball at the Olympics, but claimed bronze in both 1996 and 2008.

With a medal now clinched at Tokyo 2020, Team USA is set to collect their fourth medal in the last five Olympic baseball competitions.
