Johnson Named to Academic C-USA Team

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Tony Johnson, a Florida Atlantic University football redshirt freshman wide receiver, has been named to the 2022 Conference USA All-Academic team, as announced by the league on Thursday.

Johnson was previously named to the 2022 College Sports Communicators (CSC formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team® for football.

The honor voted upon by C-USA academic advisors recognizes the league’s top student-athletes in the sport of football. Johnson walked-on as a freshman in 2021 before earning a scholarship at this season’s fall camp. He’s played in every game in 2022, racking up 22 catches for 251 yards and three scores. The Ocala, Fla. native holds a 3.97 GPA as a business management major.

The Owls have placed a student-athlete on the prestigious list in each of the last nine seasons. Johnson is the sixth FAU football player to earn the honor.
