Joan Joyce Celebration of Life to be Held June 11

BOCA RATON,Fla.– A Celebration of Life for Joan Joyce will be held at FAU on June 11, 2022. The celebration will be held at the Delray Hyundai Deck of the FAU Football Stadium and will begin at 10 a.m.

Joyce, FAU’s head softball coach for 28 years from 1995-2022, passed away at the age of 81 on March 26, 2022. She was a legend in the sporting world and a trailblazer for women’s athletics. Joyce built the FAU softball program from the ground up and led FAU to 1,002 wins, 12 conference championships and 11 NCAA Tournaments. Joyce became the 27th coach in NCAA Division I history to join the 1,000-win club. She was named conference Coach of the Year eight times throughout her tenure at FAU.

Despite all of her impressive accomplishments, including 20 hall of fame inductions, All-America recognitions in multiple sports and inclusion in the Guinness Book of World Records, Joyce’s ability to relate and teach the sports she loved is her greatest impact. During her time at the helm of the FAU softball program, Joyce was a mentor and role model for 247 student-athletes. Joyce was also the FAU head women’s golf coach from 1996-2014.

In honor of Coach Joyce, FAU has established the Joan Joyce Memorial Fund. All proceeds are donated to the FAU softball program. For the memorial fund homepage, click HERE.
