Jaguars Sign LB Dakota Allen and C Tyler Gauthier

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars have added two players to their active roster, signing rookie LB Dakota Allen off the Los Angeles Rams’ practice squad and rookie C Tyler Gauthier off New England’s practice squad, the club announced today. To make room on the roster, the Jaguars placed LB Jake Ryan(hamstring) and OL Brandon Thomas (knee) on the team’s reserve/injured list.

Allen, 6-1, 232, was originally selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the seventh round (251st overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. After being waived by the Rams, he spent time on Oakland’s active roster, appearing in two games, before being waived by the Raiders on Oct. 31. Allen was signed to the Los Angeles Rams’ practice squad on Nov. 4, 2019. Allen played in 48 games during his collegiate career at Texas Tech and East Mississippi Community College (36 at Texas Tech, 12 at EMCC). As a senior at Texas Tech in 2018, he was named a team captain for the second consecutive season and started 11 games, totaling 73 tackles (33 solo).

Gauthier (pronounced GOTH-year), 6-5, 305, was originally signed by New England as a rookie free agent on May 2, 2019 and was signed to the Patriots’ practice squad on Oct. 15. He played collegiately at the University of Miami (Fla.) and was a three-year starter on the OL, finishing his career with 29 consecutive starts, including 25 at center. As a senior in 2018, Gauthier started all 13 games at center. A native of Venice, Fla., he earned first-team All-State honors at Venice High School helping the team to a regional semifinal berth.
