JAGUARS SIGN DEFENSIVE TACKLE TIMMY JERNIGAN

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed seventh-year DT Timmy Jernigan and placed DL Rodney Gunter on the reserve/retired list. 

Jernigan, 6-2, 295, was originally selected by the Ravens in the second round (48th) of the 2014 NFL Draft. He played with Baltimore from 2014-16 and with Philadelphia from 2017-19. For his career, Jernigan has appeared in 71 games (51 starts) and totaled 132 tackles (70 solo), 29 tackles for loss and 17.5 sacks. He started 15 games for the Eagles in the 2017, as well as all three postseason games, including Philadelphia’s Super Bowl LII victory against New England. In 2019, he played in 10 games with Philadelphia and recorded 10 tackles and 2.0 sacks.

Jernigan attended Florida State from 2011-13 and earned Second-Team Associated Press All-American as a junior after posting 63 tackles, including 4.5 sacks. He attended Columbia (Lake City, Fla.) High School where he was named a USA Today All-American.

Jernigan will wear No. 98 for the Jaguars.
