JAGUARS REACH AN AGREEMENT TO RE-SIGN DEFENSIVE END LERENTEE McCRAY

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars have reached an agreement to re-sign seventh-year DE Lerentee McCray, the team announced today.

“Lerentee has brought depth to our defensive line and has played at a high level on special teams since he joined us in 2017,” said Head Coach Doug Marrone. “We look forward to bringing him back as a veteran presence in our locker room in 2020.”

McCray, 6-3, 249, has appeared in 72 games during his NFL career after originally signing with Denver as an undrafted rookie in 2013. He played in 24 games during three seasons with the Broncos and four postseason games, including an appearance in Super Bowl 50. He spent one season in Buffalo in 2016, playing in 13 games, before signing with Jacksonville as an unrestricted free agent in 2017.

Since he joined the Jaguars, the Ocala native has played in 35 games and has totaled nine tackles (four solo), including one tackle for loss, and 12 special teams tackles. He served as the team’s special teams captain in 2018.

McCray attended the University of Florida, where he appeared in 40 games with 25 starts and helped the Gators capture the 2008 National Championship. Prior to his time in Gainesville, he attended Dunnellon High School and played wide receiver and linebacker.
