Jaguars Make Roster Moves (10-3-20)

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –The Jacksonville Jaguars have promoted fourth-year S Doug Middleton from the practice squadto the active roster and have utilized their two practice squad standard elevation spots on second-year OL KC McDermott and fourth-year K Aldrick Rosas.

Middleton, 6-0, 210, has played in 14 career games, including two contests with the Jaguars in 2019. He played in seven games (four starts) with the Jets in 2018 and posted 22 tackles and three passes defensed. A native of Winston-Salem, N.C., Middleton attended Appalachian State from 2011-15 and appeared in 37 games, totaling 173 tackles (113 solo), 16 passes defensed, six INTs and two forced fumbles. Middleton wears No. 39 for the Jaguars.

McDermott, 6-5, 311, made his NFL debut in Week 3 via the practice squad standard elevation. Originally signed by Jacksonville as a rookie free agent in 2018, he spent the 2018 season on the Jaguars’ practice squad and the 2019 season on the reserve/injured list. McDermott wears No. 62 for the Jaguars.

Rosas, who is in his fourth season in the NFL, kicked for the New York Giants from 2017-19 and has made 48 of 62 career FGs (82.7 pct.) and 86 of 95 career PATs (91.5 pct.). He was named to the Pro Bowl for his performance during the 2018 season after converting 32 of 33 FGs (97.0 pct.). Rosas originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Titans in 2016 after kicking collegiately at Southern Oregon. Rosas wears No. 7 for the Jaguars.

In accordance with Article 33, Section 5 of the 2020 CBA, each club may elevate a maximum of two players each week from its practice squad to its active/inactive List as a 54th or 55th player without the player first terminating his practice squad contract. 

Any elevated practice squad player shall automatically revert to the club’s practice squad at 4 p.m. ET on the first business day following such game without being subject to waivers. 

A practice squad player may be elevated to a club’s active/inactive list as a 54th or 55th player for a maximum of two regular season or postseason games.
