JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed first-year K Jon Brown, rookie OL Blake Hance, rookie DE Chuck Harris, fourth-year WRCharone Peake, first-year OL Ryan Pope, third-year DT Brian Price and rookie CB Jayson Stanley to reserve/future contracts, the club announced today. The Jaguars also claimed fourth-year S Josh Jones off waivers from Dallas. Jones will officially be assigned to Jacksonville’s roster the day after the Super Bowl.
Brown, 5-10, 195, originally entered the NFL in 2016 after signing with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted rookie free agent on May 8, 2016. He was waived by Cincinnati on August 30, 2016 and later re-signed with the team on Jan. 20, 2017. Following his release on Aug. 1, 2017, he was signed to the Bengals practice squad on Dec. 28, 2017, and later signed a Reserve/Future contract on Jan. 1, 2018. He connected on all six of his field goal attempts during the 2018 preseason with the Bengals, including a 55-yard attempt, prior to being waived on Sept. 1, 2018. Brown attended the University of Louisville for four years (2012-15) after transferring from the University of Kentucky in 2011. He began his collegiate career playing soccer at Kentucky and later joined Louisville’s soccer program. Brown joined the Cardinals football program in 2014 and served as a kicker on the team’s kickoff unit.
Peake, 6-2, 209 entered the NFL with the New York Jets as a seventh-round selection (241st overall) in 2016. He played in 31 games (one start) with the Jets from 2016-18 and caught 22 passes for 214 yards, including 19 receptions for 186 yards as a rookie in 2016. In 2018, Peake was a key contributor on special teams and finished with 11 special teams tackles. Peake appeared in 49 games for Clemson and caught 99 passes for 1,172 yards and 10 TDs, including a career-high 50 receptions for 716 yards and five TDs as a senior in 2015. He attended Dorman (Roebuck, S.C.) High School and tallied 52 catches for 881 yards and nine TDs as a senior.
Jones, 6-2, 220, has played in 35 career NFL games (12 starts) and accumulated 119 tackles (93 solo), seven passes defended, 3.0 sacks and one INT. He was selected in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft (61st overall) by Green Bay and played in 29 games (12 starts) from 2017-18 for Packers. In 2019, Jones played in six games for the Dallas Cowboys, primarily on special teams. Jones attended North Carolina State from 2013-16 and appeared in 38 games, making 32 starts, finishing each season in the top five in tackles. As a junior in 2016, he led the team with 109 tackles and three INTs, earning honorable mention All-ACC honors. He attended Walled Lake (Mich.) High School where he lettered two years in football and one year in track and field.
Hance, 6-5, 310, spent the entire 2019 season on the Jaguars’ practice squad after participating in training camp with the Washington Redskins. He made 47 starts at Northwestern from 2014-18.
Harris, 6-3, 265, played collegiately at Buffalo and spent Weeks 11-17 on the Jaguars’ practice squad. In college, he appeared in 41 career games and totaled 149 tackles, including 22.5 tackles for loss and 12.0 sacks.
Pope, 6-7, 315, was signed to the Jaguars’ practice squad in Week 12 after previously spending time on San Francisco’s practice squad and with the Lions in training camp. He played collegiately at San Diego State from 2015-18 and appeared in 38 career games, earning second-team All-Mountain West honors following his senior season in 2018.
Price, 6-3, 322 was signed to Jacksonville’s practice squad on Oct. 23, 2019 and was placed on the team’s practice squad injured list on Nov. 27, 2019. He has played in 21 career NFL games and registered 20 tackles and one pass defensed. Price attended UTSA from 2013-16.
Stanley, 6-2, 207, spent Weeks 16-17 on the Jacksonville’s practice squad, the 2019 training camp with the Atlanta Falcons and Weeks 7-9 on the Dolphins’ practice squad. He played WR in college and converted to CB during his time with the Falcons. He appeared in 37 games at the University of Georgia, playing primarily on special teams, and caught three passes for 32 yards and one TD. A Fairburn, Ga. native, he attended Creekside High School.
