JAGUARS LB MYLES JACK SIGNS CONTRACT EXTENSION AND SIGN LB JOE GILES-HARRIS TO PRACTICE SQUAD

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville Jaguars LB Myles Jack has signed a four-year contract extension that runs through 2023, the club announced today.

“We’re excited to have Myles in Jacksonville for the foreseeable future,” said Jaguars Executive Vice President of Football Operations Tom Coughlin. “This was something that we wanted to get done because Myles has proven himself to be a key component of our defense. His versatility and durability are both traits that we value on the football field, but Myles is also committed to bettering our community and I know he’s pleased with the opportunity to stay in Jacksonville and continue to make a positive impact on our city.

“We are pleased with what Myles has been able to accomplish during his first three seasons with the Jaguars and we’re excited to see him grow as a positive leader for this team in the locker room and in the community. The challenge to Myles and our entire team is to take our game to the next level. Congratulations to Myles and his family.”

Jack has played in all 16 games in each of his first three seasons in Jacksonville, making 219 tackles, seven tackles for loss, six passes defensed, 5.0 sacks, two fumble recoveries, one INT and one forced fumble. Last season Jack recorded his first career 100-tackle season (107) and joined Denver S Justin Simmons and Philadelphia S Malcolm Jenkins as the only players in the NFL to play on 100 percent of his team’s defensive snaps (1,020 snaps). The Scottsdale, Ariz. native got his first career pick-six to clinch last year’s season-opener at the New York Giants.

Jack started all 16 games in 2017 and shined throughout the postseason, when he tallied 19 tackles, three passes defensed, two tackles for loss, one INT, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble. He started in 10 games during his rookie season in 2016 after he was selected in the second round (36th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Jack attended UCLA, where he saw action in 29 career games and totaled 178 tackles, 15 TFL, 23 passes defensed and two fumble recoveries while also rushing for 387 yards and 11 TDs on offense. He was named both Offensive and Defensive Freshman of the Year in the Pac-12 by the coaches after tallying 75 tackles, 11 passes defensed and two INTs and rushing for 267 yards and seven TDs.
