Jaguars Celebrate Unboxing Day for NFL’s Annual My Cause My Cleats Campaign (12-1-21)

Players and coaches to call attention to causes near to them with custom cleats in Week 13

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Christmas came early for the Jaguars with today’s official celebration of “Unboxing Day” for the NFL’s annual My Cause My Cleats campaign.  An NFL tradition, players and coaches got their first look at their brand-new custom footwear that will showcase causes that are important to them during Week 13 and 14 games.  The Jaguars will wear their shoes during their Week 13 matchup against the L.A. Rams at SoFi Stadium on Sunday, Dec. 5 and in Week 14 against the Titans at Nissan Stadium on Sunday, Dec. 12.

Nearly 50 Jaguars players and coaches have elected to participate in the campaign this year and have worked with local and national artists to customize cleats to represent an issue or organization that is of special significance to them.  For a complete list of participating players and coaches and a look at their shoe design and cause, fans can visit www.jaguars.com/mycausemycleats. Each pair of shoes tells a personal story, and many will be donated to raise funds for their chosen organization.  Participants are raising awareness for a variety of causes, from special education to cancer awareness to youth mentorship.  LB Myles Jack is recognizing the work of Habitat for Humanity of Jacksonville.

“Having a roof over your head provides more than just physical comfort,” said Jack. “It gives you a space to grow as a family and create memories that last forever. HabiJax and its many volunteers has helped make the dream of home ownership a reality for thousands of families right here in Duval. I’m proud to keep that momentum going!”

Several players are representing Jacksonville-based organizations. DT DaVon Hamilton will celebrate the importance of pet adoption with cleats that showcase his dog, Woody.  DL Dawuane Smoot, who recently became a father for the second time, will honor the Better Dads Society.  QB Trevor Lawrence will recognize Long Branch Elementary with cleats personally designed by the students who first welcomed him to Jacksonville.

“I’m pumped to be able to represent Long Branch Elementary during the My Cause My Cleats campaign this year,” said Lawrence. “Those kids were the first to welcome me to Jacksonville after I was drafted and gave me a taste of the spirit of this great city. No matter what challenges or obstacles that their students and families face, the school’s dedication to its students and the way they encourage them to be their best is why I’m supporting them this year and for years to come.”
