JAGUARS CB JOSIAH SCOTT POST-DRAFT SELECTION

(On how he felt being picked in the fourth round and what prevented him from being picked a little bit higher.) “The thing about the fourth round is it’s just opportunity, at the end of the day. My goal was just to get in the league and now it’s just time to stay in the league, and that’s kind of been my mindset the entire time. When you leave college early, you never know what to expect. I was never found to be great or anything like that, I was just kind of betting on myself. So, going in the fourth round is good with me. Now it’s just time to work. There really isn’t much to it with me. I’m just ready to work and I’m excited.”

(On what the team said about the opportunity in Jacksonville.) “They said am I ready to go in and play a slot. I definitely am. I definitely can contribute to special teams. And that’s what they asked about also. I think that’s what they’re expecting of me, is just to go in and play nickel and special teams and contribute.”

(On how much he met with the Jaguars before the Draft.) “I actually met with them at the Combine once and talked with the DB coach, and then throughout the entire process I talked with scouts. I really didn’t have much contact with the Jacksonville Jaguars at all, so it was a surprise pick, but I’m definitely happy with being picked here and coming here.”

(On what the Jaguars coaches said about the traits he exhibits.) “Definitely toughness. We talked about how he likes Michigan State guys and what they bring to the table with toughness. Being able to tackle, coverage, and just being an aggressive person and that’s what they kind of liked from me.”

(On what the drafting process has been like and how he and his family celebrated.) “Yeah, so the last month and a half it has really just been a bunch of meetings. It’s been stressful at times because you’re with a bunch of teams throughout the entire process, so you don’t know where you’re going to end up going. You’re not able to take visits and workouts and things like that. So it was kind of all over the place, but really just hearing my named called ten minutes ago was a huge sigh of relief and now I get to focus on football and doing what I love. So I had a couple friends over and obviously my full family here to celebrate right when I was called. They celebrated immediately. We’re downstairs right now actually. So we’re just celebrating throughout the entire day really. I’m super excited.”

(On how his family full of football players has dealt with him being drafted.) “Everybody’s excited. Nobody was able to get to this level of just being able to be drafted. So it’s a new experience for us and that’s why we’re super excited, because we had a family full of football players, but no one has ever been able to be drafted. So I was the first one to be able to get drafted. So that’s why it’s definitely special.”
