Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp: Five-run seventh propels Jacksonville to victory

Harrison, Fowler, Quintana all homer in 7-3 win at Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. – Home runs from Dustin Fowler and Lorenzo Quintana highlighted a five-run seventh inning on Wednesday that sparked the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp to a 7-3 win over the Norfolk Tides.

The score was tied at two when Brian Miller singled and stole second against Tides (47-69) reliever Tom Eshelman (0-4). Niick Fortes then lashed an RBI double into the right field corner to give Jacksonville (66-50) its first lead of the game. Monte Harrison followed with a single to put runners on the corners before Fowler greeted new reliever Dusten Knight with a three-run home run. Two batters later, Quintana homered to make it 7-2.

Norfolk initially scored the game’s first runs in the third inning. Mason McCoy led off with a double against Jumbo Shrimp starter Shawn Morimando. Two batters later, Adley Rutschman tripled him in before scoring on a Kyle Stowers RBI single to make it 2-0.

The score remained 2-0 until the fifth. After Tides starter Ofelky Peralta hit Fortes with a pitch, Harrison tied the game with a two-run home run. Harrison went 2-for-3 with two walks in the winning effort.

Morimando yielded just two runs on seven hits in his five innings of work. Preston Guilmet (4-1) worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the sixth before giving way to Rob Zastryzny, who tosses two scoreless frames.

Jacksonville and Norfolk face off in a 12:05 p.m. contest on Thursday from Harbor Park, as LHP Daniel Castano (4-2, 4.71 ERA) starts for the Jumbo Shrimp against Tides RHP Cody Sedlock (1-2, 2.75 ERA). Coverage begins at 11:50 a.m. on www.Facebook.com/ESPN690Jax.
