Fowler tallies two hit game, drives in

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Durham Bulls hit five home runs in Tuesday’s ballgam, and scored multiple runs in four different innings on their way to a 13-2 win over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp at 121 Financial Ballpark.

Jacksonville (58-45) was held without a hit after the fourth inning at the plate, while the Bulls (66-36) tallied a dozen hits in the ballgame.

After Brandon Leibrandt (loss, 0-6) retired six of the first seven batters he faced, Durham broke out in the third. David Freitas walked to begin the inning, and Nathan Lukes followed with a single. Vidal Brujan then blasted a three-run home run to left field to make it 3-0 Bulls.

One inning later, Freitas belted a two-run shot to push the advantage to 5-0, scoring Esteban Quiroz, who had singled with one out.

Jacksonville got the two runs back in the bottom half of the inning. With one out, Nick Fortes singled to center and Lorenzo Quintana rifled a double to right-center to put a pair in scoring position. Dustin Fowler then put Jacksonville on the board with an RBI single to center to score Fortes. Later in the inning, Bryson Brigman hit a popup in front of home plate that dropped in for an RBI single, allowing Quintana to score against Brent Honeywell Jr. (win, 4-2).

Honeywell Jr. gave up two runs in six innings and struck out seven for the Bulls.

However, Durham continued to add on. Taylor Walls led off the fifth inning with a solo home run, the first of three runs to cross in the frame. Dalton Kelly added a solo home run in the seventh, his 24th of the season, to push the lead to 9-2.

The Bulls pulled away in the eighth scoring four runs, highlighted by a three-run homer from Josh Lowe
