(On play call for the play that set up the game winning field goal) “The extra time ended up changing it. So, the play before, we were going to take a shot to the end zone. The problem in the situation or, I guess, the decision in the situation was the distance that we had, you know? We only had five seconds, but we needed eight yards, so that was a little bit more of the talking points. I think we would’ve gone through the slider situation probably initially, but I think the fourth-and-8 was what, with the five seconds, made it a little bit more challenging. Our guys executed to perfection. We’ve worked on it a ton  and so they did it great.”

(On wanting more time for that play) “We would’ve loved to have one more second. I mean it was really tight on our parameters. I mean our parameters would’ve been six [seconds] to get it and feel really comfortable with it because the one thing you don’t know, we’re not like the basketball that has the tenths and hundredths of a second on the clock. Where’s that? Is it 5.01 or is it 5 point whatever? You don’t really know that. You don’t really know what that time exactly is. But to get it done, we were pretty fired up to get that done in that time.”

(On the difficulty of getting that play off quickly for QB Trevor Lawrence) “Well, he did a great job. I mean you can’t minimize [what he did], like everything had to be right. The ball that he threw also, the accuracy on that throw which really helped Laviska [Shenault Jr.] to go down with it as well. The quickness is not necessarily the thing, but I think the thing I think was impressive was the distance that we had to go to get the first down in that time. I think that’s what really made it a spectacular play.”

(On his message for the offense going into the bye week) “All these guys will still have things that we have to improve on. We’ll do [that] here during this bye week as we’ll spend some time on ourselves, we’ll self-scout and try to find all the things that we need to improve on, things that we’ve been doing well, build on those, enhance the things we haven’t been doing very well, and kind of go get some rest and get refreshed.”

(On RB James Robinson over the past few weeks) “Yeah, he’s really hitting his stride. There’s almost nothing that he can’t do for us, and he’s run the ball well. I think he caught three passes in the passing game. So, he’s doing a great job. He’s giving us everything he’s got.”

(On working on incorporating the more recently acquired players into the game plan during the bye week) “It’s a good problem to have guys that have play making ability. You get a guy like Dan [Arnold] on the short notice on the one week that he was here, got him involved a little bit, a little bit more this week, and we’ll just continue to build on that. I think one of our pleasant surprises to probably a lot of people has been [Jamal] Agnew. Jamal’s always done a great job. I was fortunate that I had him in Detroit and was able to see the beginnings of the skill set that he had and things that you might want to do with him. Everyone continues to see him as the kick returner, but yesterday I think he showed that,

was it yesterday or two days ago I guess now, he showed that he has the ability as a wide receiver. If you see the touchdown throw that we threw to Marv[Marvin Jones Jr.] on the right side when Ag’s going down the middle. His guy fell down and he’s breaking the route off, doing a nice job on it. So, [I’m] excited for him in that way.”

(On Sunday being a big game for WR Marvin Jones Jr.) “It’s a big game for him, but for us, it’s nothing new. I mean Marv[Marvin Jones Jr.]’s a guy that we can really count on, he’s a veteran player, and he’s come up time and time again, at least for me in the time that I’ve had with him. He plays big in those big moments and two days ago was no different.”

(On the offensive line playing without multiple starters) “[It was] very impressive for those guys. [Offensive Line Coach] George Warhop is as good as there is. He does a great job of just preparing them and I think it showed with the depth that we had. We were very fortunate to have a guy like [Tyler] Shatley, an experienced player that can come in and communicate because it got pretty dirty in there and they were giving a lot of different looks to the young quarterback. I know they were down in the secondary, so they were trying to do a lot of different things and he kept it settled down. He was able to get the things ID’d for us, which really settles the rest of the guys down, so that was big. Then, to have a guy like Will [Richardson Jr.] to get come in and play and played fairly well for us is big to have that much  depth.”

(On the Dolphins bringing the most pressure out of any team they’ve faced this season) “Oh, absolutely. It seemed like they were coming from everywhere. They were throwing everything at us and everything at Trevor [Lawrence]. We handled them. Just like you think, there was going to be some really good ones and there were going to be some ones where they got us, but overall, I like the way that we responded.”

(On trusting WR Laviska Shenault Jr. to be the recipient of the slide play) “He had two big fourth downs. The first one early in the half, he caught the fourth down a little bit short on the initial catch but was able to lunge and get the first down for us. Then the slider play was really big. I think he even caught the last two plays, right? So, it’s just good to get him involved. I know what happened a week ago was he comes out of the game and only has one catch. With, I think it was, Marv [Marvin Jones Jr.] and [Jamal] Ag[new] and Laviska [Shenault Jr.], all three of those guys had a good number of catches, so it was good to see it moving around.”

(On QB Trevor Lawrence’s progression) “I would expect it to continue. I really like where he’s at. We’re protecting the ball well, making very good decisions, he’s orchestrating things more, he’s seeing the defense better, and he’s only going to continue to grow. I mean it was whatever it was, his sixth NFL start, so it’s good to get a win and be able to see the progression, but I think he’ll just continue in that upward movement.”

(On what QB Trevor Lawrence has improved the most) “I think his progression has been steady, but I think this game probably showed the most because of what they did defensively. They gave him a lot of tough looks. He handled the looks with poise. He was able to orchestrate the things that he needed to. He got us in and out of some plays. Not all of them were perfect and clean, but the majority of them were and he just was able to keep the ball moving, was able to stay confident with the poise that he has. He stayed confident in the situations. They stopped us on a third down and we still were able to come out and put those drives back-to-back. I think he’s just doing a really good job and I think we’ll continue to see that improvement from him.”

(On if it will be emotional returning to Seattle in two weeks where he was the Offensive Coordinator from 2011-2017) “Probably. It’s going to be exciting. I loved Seattle. I had a great time when we were there. We won a lot of games. [I] love [Seahawks Head Coach] Coach [Pete] Carroll. I have a lot of respect for him and the staff. [Seahawks QB] Russell Wilson’s still there. He’s probably not going to play. There’s a lot of great memories from the place and I was there for a long time.”

(On having a residence in Seattle still) “I do not.”

(On what he learned seeing QB Trevor Lawrence at the end of the game on Sunday) “It was first to get his first, I guess, come from behind win, fourth quarter comeback deal there and to make those plays. When you think about how that drive started, it wasn’t starting very well. We get a false start, we get a minus yards run, we get a sack, and I think that really shows a lot about Trevor [Lawrence]. He just stayed very poised. He stayed very in the moment, just got a real nice play to Laviska [Shenault Jr.] there on the sideline, and then of course made a big play at the end. So those plays, those negative plays, it didn’t affect him. He didn’t get down and none of that happened. Like I said, he stayed confident. He stood up and made two big plays and two big throws at the end of the game.”

(On if that pressure is something young quarterbacks can normally handle) “I think it depends on who it is, but definitely confidence can waiver in games, and I really haven’t seen that from him. He believes in himself, he’s a very confident guy, and the poise is I think something that really stands out to me. Just him in all the moments he’s been in, he’s learned from all the moments. But in game situations, nothing’s been too big for him, and he’s handled it really well.”

(On QB Trevor Lawrence’s knack for escaping pressure) “It’s that sixth sense that the quarterback has, and it looks like you might’ve had it too with that move that you just did. But yeah, it’s impressive. You just kind of have that feel and I think it is an understanding of the defensive structure and where guys are coming from or where they might be coming from, knowing your protections. I think Trevor [Lawrence] has a really good handle on our protections, so which way they’re sliding, which way they’re going, and where the free guys might be able to come from. I think all that helps. There’s still times where maybe he moves, the move is too abrupt, but in this last game I thought that he made some really good decisions and moved out of the pocket well.”

(On WR Jamal Agnew’s skill set) “He’s not a big guy in stature, but I mean you watch whatever it was, the second pass that we threw, he catches the ball and just ran straight into the guy on the sideline. So, he’s very tough, he’s quick, he does have good speed and he’s really good with the ball in his hands. It’s, I don’t even know if I should [say this], but similar to Laviska [Shenault Jr.], but different because Laviska’s this big, strong, massive guy, and then we have [Jamal] Agnew that’s a little quicker, more jitterbug guy. Both those guys, you want to get them the ball in their hands, and you have to be able to find ways to do it, like the first pass of the game, just a little bubble to throw out there to him and get it in his hands and basically let him be his kick returner. You’re trying to find that with both those guys, how to get it into their hands the best way that we can.”

(On using WR Jamal Agnew for things in the playbook they were hoping to use RB Travis Etienne Jr. for) “I think there’s a little bit of some of that to it. I wouldn’t say all of it because you would love to have Travis [Etienne Jr.] with the mismatch coming out of the backfield because it gives you different matchups, but there are some similarities to it.”

(Opening Statement) “First of all, I appreciate everyone being here. I’ll tell you what, [it’s] great getting up here after a W. Just to recap this game, obviously [there was] great focus out there on the trip. Obviously, we’ve been over there before and just our guys had a mindset that they weren’t coming back without a win and, really, I felt like that during the week. Coaches did a great job, [Head Coach] Coach [Urban Meyer] did a great job [establishing] the mindset of just playing the best with details. I thought our guys played four full quarters from an effort standpoint. [We had] two big stops at the end. Obviously the fourth-and-1 was huge right there. [I] thought we played complimentary football. Right before the half, we punt the ball, we keep them down there [with] a big third down play, Rudy [Ford] made the tackle, they punt the ball back, we get it at midfield, we go and score. We come out, we get the ball, we score, so that was a changing point of the game. [In the] last ten possessions, they had one touchdown. We didn’t start good, [there was a] couple third downs we had to get off the field, rushing coverage working together, but [there were] a lot of positives. Guys filled in in some roles. Shaq[uille Quarterman] did a great job filling in at linebacker. He was all over the field, the opportunities he had. Deuce [Chapelle Russell] had the opportunity at the WILL [linebacker] spot and the dime spot, did a great job. Dakota [Allen] made some plays. Nevin [Lawson was] out there for his first start. It was nice  seeing that ball float up there. I’m like, ‘Please catch that’ and he did. But it was getting the takeaway there and then really in the fourth down stop, we counted that as a takeaway. [We] still need a lot of improvement, but it was the lowest points [allowed] of the year and guys flying around. I think they had a WILL at the end just to make that final stop. With that, I’ll open it up to questions.”

(On holding the Dolphins to field goals instead of allowing touchdowns) “[Head Coach] Coach [Urban Meyer] always talks about the plan to win, playing great defense really as a team. Playing great defense, that means protecting the ball, keeping them out of the end zone, things like that, kicking game, all that. Then, we talk about the turnover battle. We were plus one I believe in that if you count the fourth down stop. Then we talk about winning the red zone. Winning in the end zone for us is if you can’t take the ball away, hold them to field goals. Those two in row that we held them to field goals was big because [if] you punch one in there or they get one in, it’s a different game. I thought our guys did a great job at that, holding them to field goals.”

(On the team effort to help DE/OLB Josh Allen on the fourth-and-1 stop) “No question. I believe it was almost inches and he had the penetration, he beat the tight end’s block. [Dawuane] Smoot did a great job setting the edge but didn’t get his hat in there. Then we had Malcom [Brown] holding the double team and Adam Gotsis holding their double teams with no movement. Damien [Wilson] knocked the guard back and then Deuce [Chapelle Russell] obviously did a great job getting in there, knocking the guy back. It was about five guys making sure he couldn’t get forward progress.”

(On DE/OLB Josh Allen playing better in recent weeks) “He is. Yeah, the last couple weeks he’s really rushed well. We didn’t put the quarterback down, but he had some really good pressures, quarterback hits. I think he had eight total. [He’s] playing the run better, played with great effort. But he is, yes, playing more consistent.”

(On the fourth down stop instilling confidence in the defense for the rest of the season) “Well, part of complimentary football is like [when] the game’s on the line. [Head Coach] Coach [Urban Meyer] always talks about a competitive excellence, making the play when your number’s called. Right there, there’s no better [example]. Hey, here it is, right there, tie game, okay, you have to make the stop. We made the stop. We had all of the confidence in the world we were going to do what we did and kick the game winning field goal.”

(On DT Jay Tufele’s progress) “Jay [Tufele] played solid the week before. He’s been practicing well. Unfortunately, he got injured in pregame, but he’s been coming along well.”

(On DT Jay Tufele’s hand injury) “[It happened] just in certain situations in warmups and stuff like that. It’s happened before to me with a guy.”

(On being able to adjust after DT Jay Tufele’s injury) “Well, that’s part of the NFL. It’s not like college where you can just pull a guy and say, ‘You’re up in line.’ It happened a couple years ago in Baltimore. Houston had one of their DBs coming out [of] his zone and he ran into a guy and tore his ACL, so they were down a DB. Unfortunately, it’s a tough break, but we just had to fight through it, and we did.”

(On mixing man and zone coverage in the secondary) “I mean when you look at the games and how it breaks down, when we had to stop [Titans RB] Derrick Henry, it’s a lot of man. They hurt us with a couple crossing routes, but they had 180 yards throwing. You look at [the] Cincinnati game, we played a lot of zone to stop their throwing game, so it’s just depending on the game. Then last week, there was a balance. We played a lot of zone, but the rushing coverage has to work together. We have to make sure we’re getting to our landmarks on our zones. We all have to do a better job at that, and we will.”

(On giving up yardage on throws from Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa to Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki) “He had some over, in between the safeties and the linebackers, and we just have to do a better job cleaning that up.”

(On what he needs to see from S Andre Cisco to get him on the field more) “Well, we had a little package for him the other day and he did well in it. We had a package where he came in, covered the running back who had done a good job, and he did a good job with that. [He has to] just continue to develop.”

(On being satisfied with S Andre Cisco’s development thus far) “Yes.”

(On S Rudy Ford’s performance) “Rudy [Ford] played his best game. Rudy played his best game. He was all over the field special teams wise and I think he played 22 snaps on defense. He was all over the field. He did a great job. He had three stops, big tackles, that one before the half where we were mugged up, he dropped out. We showed a man look, he [Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa] got rid of the ball quick, and he drove right through the tackler. [He] had some great effort plays, saw a lot of Rudy.”

(On changing the defense with the absence of LB Myles Jack) “Really not much because basically it’s a next man up and we’re not going to change our whole defense for one guy. Obviously, we’d love to have Myles [Jack], but I thought those guys did a great job filling in, really did.”

(On using the Bye Week to get injured players back) “I mean the veterans and the older guys, [they are] taking care of their bodies, getting their treatments, but still [it’s] a great opportunity to get better, go out in the field, get work in. [With] the rules now, you can’t have pads on. Like the old days you could have three days of pads and you’d scrimmage every day. Can’t do that anymore, but that’s what we did when I first got in the league. No longer can you have pads during the bye week, but I think it’s a great opportunity to get better, hone in on your techniques, some of the things we’re talking about, man and zone coverage, and just continuing to get better. It’s always great after a win to do that.”

(On being concerned about CB Nevin Lawson in his first start at the beginning of the game) “No, he’s a cagey veteran that’s been in the wars. I knew he was going to make some plays and when it was called on, he did a great job.”

JAGUARS CORNERBACK SHAQUILL GRIFFIN

(On celebrating a win for 24 hours) “I do my 24 hours and have my fun. I tell my brother ‘I got so many videos and pictures to post’ but I am not going to overdo it. I am just going to put them up and save them for later.”

(On the effects of a win on this young team) “It was big. We needed that, we needed that feeling. Just to know what it feels like to win a ballgame especially in crucial moment and in a game like that. Clutch situation, I feel like we needed that environment and that feeling. Now that everyone knows what it feels like, we do not want to lose it. I think that was the most important thing and I think It came at a perfect time going into the Bye Week. You know letting guys come back and get healthy and clear their minds. The main thing is that they have to stay professional, so I know in my room we are talking about what the plan is for this week and how you have to be professional leaving this building and coming back prepared. This is not a week to parlay, this is not it. Get your minds right, spend time with your family,  clear your mind and get back to ball because you know we have an 11 week stretch that is not easy. The main thing is enjoy that moment. We won and that feeling you got [is a feeling] you do not want to lose, so continue to build off that. I am glad it came at this time and it was a perfect time to have it. Not later on so it was awesome.”

(On the message to the team after the game) “My main thing is always taking in this moment. Feel it and be where your feet are at. I feel like we think so far ahead. We live in the past and we never sit there and think about what is going on right now in the moment. After we won, I had to tell everyone to ‘take this all in and soak it up.’ This is the feeling that we love to feel. The time of us flying back and the moment we had as a team, I felt like that win brought us so much closer because everyone knows what we put into it just to get to that W. I wanted everyone to soak that up, get that feeling and do not lose it. This is the part that we want to feel for the rest of the year so let’s make it happen. That was my message going into that.”

(On a new confidence after not winning for a long time) “For sure, I was getting people coming up to me saying ‘Hey man, I have not got a win since last year Week 1.’ You know that is a long time and that can really deteriorate a person’s confidence a lot. To see the light come back on and see the guys have more hope knowing that we really can do this and it was not us just talking about it. We were saying ‘we are going to get this W’ and it was not happening and now that we see that we can do it, the confidence is definitely going to be different. Like I said it does not work if you do not build off that. That is the main thing, just everyone staying focused. A Bye Week can either be good or it can be bad depending on how your team takes it in. Right now, we are hoping for a great week of everyone coming back and clearing their heads – coaches in all. Coming back and being ready to take on Seattle. We have another day to meet around and hopefully we all take that time for the vets [veterans] the ones who have been through it will talk to the young guys. Hopefully the coaches speak up on some ideas and if people have questions, they ask them about how they should approach this Bye Week. That is going to say a lot about how important it is to come back and be fully prepared for what is next.”

(On looking forward to going to Seattle) “Yeah, of course I look forward to going to play in Seattle. I am a person who does not get too high or too low in situations like this. It does not matter if it is a prime-time game, or I am going back playing Seattle. My main thing is I am going to keep that same spirit and it does not matter who I am playing. Being back in Seattle and you know seeing the guys I have not seen for a minute, I am going to love that. Playing in front of the 12’s is going to be fun either way it plays out. I am excited. I do not think I am going to treat it any differently. I am just preparing for another team I am trying to beat and we are trying to win, that is my main focus. Of course, being back in that city that taught me so much – that I am still grateful for, but now it is business.”

(On the emotions building up as the game gets closer) “Yeah it going to build up all the way up to the game and then I am going to let it all out.”

(On getting stops and the impact of that moving forward) “I think that was the confidence that we were looking for. You know to understand that we can get that stop on that third down and make that play. You can see in that game that everything did not go our way but the main thing is we competed and continued to fight. We did not know it was going to play out but on that third down Rudy [Ford] made that tackle. We did not know where it was going to come [from] but he made a great play. On fourth down, just taking our shot. I feel like I want this more than they do. You know Josh Allen getting through there and taking that shot and everyone following behind him and making sure he gets nothing else and helping him. That is the confidence we have been looking for and that is the confidence we need. Understand that we can put this game in our hand and win it.” That shows and you continue to show that on that last fourth and one play, there was some amazing people making some amazing plays. That is the confidence we have to build off of – we need guys like that.”

(On the game tying field goal) “I had no doubt in my mind. I do not even watch the field goals. You know someone could ask me – you know it was Tre Herndon who asked ‘Hey man you think Matty [K Matthew Wright] is going to make this?’ I said, ‘Ice Ice Baby? Oh Yeah, Matty Ice is going to make that I am not nervous.’ You know that is someone I played with back in college and who we had truly had a lot of confidence for. That has not changed and every time I see Matty I have no problem because I know he is going to make it, no doubt in my mind. Everyone stood up on the sideline and I was the only one sitting on the bench knowing he was going to make it. I had no doubt in my mind. That is Ice Ice Baby and he is going to make it every single time.”

(On not watching field goals) “I am just chilling. My main thing is I try to keep the same ritual in everything that I do so even on third and short or whatever it is, or fourth and one, or whenever the offense is going for it, or it is a field goal. I am the guy that always is sitting on the bench because I believe this guy is going to get it. There is no ‘Oh defense you have to be ready we might have to.’ There is no might, he is going to make it. ‘Oh the offense is going to go for it defense needs to be ready’, defense does not need to be ready because they are going to get it. That is why I sit on the bench and I can sit here for another couple of plays because they are going to keep going.”

(On hyping up Matt at the UCF game on Friday) “I should, that actually sounds like a great idea but Matty [K Matthew Wright] is a low-key kind of guy so I am going to kind of let him do his thing but when the time is right I will make sure he has all the fame and the show that he deserves. Right now I am letting him do his thing.”

(On how cool it is seeing K Matthew Wright succeed) “It is amazing because it is plays that I have seen him do before. To be a part of it at UCF and then be a part of it here. Like I said it is full circle, things that keep happening so your talking about me and Rayshawn [Jenkins] coming here and then you talk about Matty from college coming back here. We are getting some great guys that I have seen play before and guys that I always have had confidence and respect for and it is showing up big time. Being a UCF alumni and I know those guys and love them so much because being so close back in Florida doing some great things and now we are doing them together. I think they had a picture come out and it kind of made me emotional to see where we come from back at UCF and then taking the same field to get this first W. This is a guy that is going to help turn this organization around. It is amazing to be a part of you know I  root for the guy forever and I know we are going to do some big things together, so it is cool.”

JAGUARS QUARTERBACK TREVOR LAWRENCE

(On how he is feeling coming off of a win) “I feel great, it’s a lot better feeling coming off a win than when you lose. Especially winning before the Bye Week, that’s huge. Then you just have all the momentum and you feel good just getting a little bit of a break. Working today and working tomorrow, but it’s been good and it’s been awesome.”

(On how much that helps with confidence) “I think it helps a lot. I think that win came at a great time. Obviously, we would of liked to win a few of the other ones but right before the Bye Week, I think like I said, you get a lot of momentum going into it. You have a chance to get your bodies right. We have a lot of guys banged up. We have two full weeks before we play again, so we have a lot of time which we need so it is perfect. It just shows that no matter the situation, because we had some guys out, we can still find a way to win so that’s what it’s all about. To see that carry over and for us to actually finish the game and pull it out, that’s huge and you have that confidence. If we prepare and play four quarters, we’ll be in a position to win and we proved that we can do that and just trying to do that moving  forward.”

(On the balance between relaxing and going to work on the Bye Week) “Maybe a little bit today, but especially tomorrow you start on Seattle and you start looking at some stuff. Physically, we will kind of run around tomorrow and just loosen it up and make sure everything is good.” Light practice and then after that it is just taking time to get your body right, but mentally I’m going to start on Seattle and then take a few days off and kind of get away from it. We’re getting ready to go on an 11-game stretch and I have never been a part of a season that long. That’s like a whole college season and we have already played six games. Just getting prepared for that and I think that will be a big thing. It is just as much mental as it is physical so just trying to make sure I am ready to go on this run. I think we are in a great spot though with the guys and how we have prepared. I feel great about it but yeah, we will start on  Seattle today and tomorrow and then everyone will be off the rest of the week and guys will kind of do their own thing. A lot of the vet’s[Veterans] have their own routine that they do and it is just making sure your body is ready to go so you can not just lay around for five days but you also have to take a break so that is what I am going to do. Just find a balance in that.”

(On the effect of having C Tyler Shatley in the game) “It was awesome, to have a guy that can come in and he is always ready. A guy that is really durable too. He is never hurt or anything like that and just really smart and a guy that can come in. Like I said last week, obviously Brandon [Linder] is a great player and we obviously miss him but Tyler is like the – I could not ask for any one better to come in there and lead the guys up front. [He is] really smart and makes the calls and just me and him communicating. I thought we communicated really well during the game and Miami did a lot of different stuff that they threw at us that we were not necessarily expecting but we were able to adjust on the fly and really  make in-game adjustments. I thought it was great and our communication was awesome. I am super happy with the way he played and directed traffic up there.”

(On the fan running on the field) “That was so weird, I thought it was staged at first. Like you know how sometimes before the game they do the staged weird like whatever, I thought it was because everyone was just looking at this guy like the refs did not know what to do and the security was over by the wall like they did not know what was going on. I think Logan was kind of mad but no that was cool. Definitely, I will remember that was just weird.”

(On where he has improved the most) “I think a few different things. Obviously, I am playing more consistent and taking care of the ball I think is the biggest thing. Beyond that, I think just situationally I have done a really good job the past couple weeks. Even the one at the end of the game, like just stuff I have learned from through the first five games. We had to execute perfectly to win that game against Miami or at least we would have gone to overtime and then we would have had a chance to win in overtime. To win it right there at the end, we had to execute perfectly because we had five seconds left. All the stuff we practiced and to put that into play gives you a lot of confidence coming out of that. We executed the situation just like we wanted to and made the game winning field goal to end it. That is always the best feeling when it works out just the way you practiced. I would say turnovers and situational football I have gotten a lot better at it. I think I am more accurate and giving our guys a chance. I think you just see the offense clicking more and more and we are really putting together some good games and we are just going to keep getting better.”

(On being nervous the last pass of the game) “No, the only time I was like kind of shaking my head a little bit was the first two plays when we were going backwards. I was like oh gosh we are trying to get into field goal range and we lose like a combined 10 yards on the first two plays. Obviously, that not how you wanted to start, but I never had any doubt especially when we got the call on that fourth down. It was great. Third down, I think it was third and 18, third and 20 or something like that. We got an easy completion for 10 yards or 12 yards to put us back kind of to where we needed a little bit more to get the field goal. We were kind of going back and forth deciding what we wanted to do but when the call came in, I had no doubt that it was the right call and that we would execute it. Especially when I saw the look from Miami, I knew I could fit it in that window and kind of tell Laviska [Shenault Jr.] where to go with the ball and throw it a little low so he could get down quick. It was perfect we had one second left. That is all we needed so it was awesome.

(On WR Marvin Jones Jr. giving him the game ball) “It was awesome, obviously I have a great relationship with Marvin. He is a guy that I have been able to lean on and just such a dependable guy.  Makes plays but also just his work ethic and being around that ever since I have gotten here in May. It has been cool to see. Just a guy I respect a lot and I have learned a lot from him so that meant a lot. Just the whole group on offense, seeing everyone. Yes, a few of us had some big games but seeing everyone contribute in key situations. Laviska [Shenault Jr.], Marvin, J Rob [RB James Robinson], Ag [WR Jamal Agnew], the whole o-line. Will Richardson had to come in and play guard, just seeing all those guys have an impact on the game really just shows you need everyone to win and it is cool when that works the  way you want it to.”

(On how WR Jamal Agnew is playing with an expanded role) “He is just a guy that really can do anything and it is so valuable to have a guy like that on offense and I mean really anywhere. He can do special teams and then to come in these past two weeks and play our slot position and just not skip a beat. [He has] made big plays, both games and he has made a huge impact the past two weeks. I guess even in Cincinnati he had to come in during the middle of the game so that one too. Just a guy that is really versatile and that will help us a lot because you can do so many different things with him and I am glad he is on our team because he just helps us so much.”

(On how well WR Jamal Agnew’s transition to WR is going) “Just his natural feel for creating separation, getting open, understanding concepts and adjustments. He is just a really savvy guy that knows how to get open and can play. When you have him out there, you just know he is going to make a play and as a quarterback you have a lot of confidence when you have a guy like that.”

(On what DL Christian Wilkins said during the game) “He said a lot of stuff, I don’t even remember. He kept taking my towel which was the main thing. He took like three of my towel’s and I tried to tell the ref on him but he never saw him. I talked to him after the game and gave him my jersey and all that so it was good. I am definitely glad we pulled that one out because I would not have heard the end of that for a while.”

(On the level of confidence with a win) “Yeah, I think it is one thing to say you have confidence and you can kind of keep telling yourself that but at some point you need some evidence. This thing is turning around, what we are doing is working, we are getting closer and you can see that on the field, but at some point you have to get a win. It kind of solidifies everything we are doing and that we are doing this the right way and we just have to put our head down and going to work. I think that was the biggest thing coming from this game. Like I said it just shows if we prepare no matter who is out there, we are missing a lot of our guys, a lot of our key players but if we prepare and play a full four quarters. We do not have to play perfect but just keep playing and make the big plays when we need them that we will have a chance to win any game we play in. To win a game like that you just have so much confidence because you have actually done it. It is one thing to say your confident before you have done and you can be a little bit it, but we know we have done it now so just building off that will be big.”

(On things slowing down after six games) “Yeah, I guess you could say that is the term. I think it is more you start to understand what defenses are doing because you see looks but all these looks get recycled from team to team. They might do it a little bit different but once you see all these different things you can always go back and remember I saw this this week and this is how we adjusted and then having that bank of things you have done to figure it out. That is one thing and then for me that is part of taking care of the ball is just seeing everything sooner and being able to put the ball in a safe spot and get the ball in our playmakers hands and I think that is what I have done a way better job of the past few weeks.  Maybe not taking quite as many shots down the field, you still are going to mix some in because you have to and you have to stretch the field but also just getting the ball to our guys for five yards and letting them run for however many. You know making a play is huge so our guys have done a great job.”
