Jacksonville Jaguars at Cincinnati Bengals Postgame Notes

WINNING THE TURNOVER BATTLE: The Jaguars entered Week 7 with two takeaways on the season and a minus-five turnover margin through six games. In today’s victory over Cincinnati, the Jaguars posted four takeaways – two from SRonnie Harrison (an INT and fumble recovery), an INT from LB Myles Jack and a pick-six from DE Yannick Ngakoue – and are now minus-one in the turnover margin this season. Ngakoue is just the second defensive lineman in franchise history to register a pick-six and the first since DE Tony Brackens on Nov. 28, 1999.

FOURNETTE LEADS THE AFC IN RUSHING: Third-year RB Leonard Fournetterushed 29 times for 131 yards (4.5 rush. avg.) and leads the AFC with 715 rushing yards (144 carries; 5.0 rush avg.). Fournette has now posted eight career games with 100-plus rushing yards, the second-most in Jaguars history through 28 career games (RB Fred Taylor – nine). Fournette has surpassed 100 rushing yards in three of his last four games. Fournette’s 2,194 career rushing yards are the most through 28 career games in franchise history. Fournette also added two receptions for 14 yards and totaled 145 scrimmage yards in today’s game. Fournette has totaled at least 85 scrimmage yards in seven consecutive games, the longest active streak in the NFL.  Fournette joins former RB Maurice Jones-Drew (2011) as the only Jaguars to post at least 85 scrimmage yards in each of the team’s first seven games of a season. Fournette has now posted 14 career games with at least 100 scrimmage yards, the most through 28 career games in franchise history. Fournette’s 918 scrimmage yards rank third in the NFL.

FIRST-ROUNDER CONTINUES TO PRODUCE: First-round rookie DE Josh Allenposted two tackles for loss and his third consecutive game with a sack. Allen has now totaled 5.0 sacks this season, all in the last five games. Allen is tied with John Henderson (2002) for the most sacks by a Jaguars player through seven career games in franchise history. Allen is the first Jaguars rookie since DE Yannick Ngakoue in 2016 to post at least 1.0 sack in three straight games.

LAMBO-MATIC: Fifth-year K Josh Lambo converted all four FG attempts in today’s win (21 yards, 29 yards, 37 yards and 26 yards) and has now made all 18 FG attempts this season, including 20 straight FG attempts dating back to 2018. Lambo’s streak of 20 consecutive made FGs is the second-longest in franchise history – he owns the record with 24 consecutive made FGs – and the longest current active streak in the NFL. Since signing with the Jaguars on Oct. 17, 2017, Lambo has made 56 of 59 FG attempts (94.9 FG pct.), the highest FG percentage in the NFL over that span. 

MINSHEW MAGIC: Rookie QB Gardner Minshew II completed 15 of 32 passes for 255 yards and one TD for a passer rating of 85.8. Through seven games, Minshew has completed 139 of 226 passes (61.5 comp. pct.) for 1,697 yards, 10 TDs and two INTs. Minshew’s 1,697 passing yards are the most through seven career games in franchise history. Minshew, who has now attempted 226 passes this season with just two INTs. Minshew is the first player in NFL history to throw for at least 10 TDs with two or fewer INTs through his first seven career games. Minshew is also currently the only player in NFL history with at least 200 career pass attempts and two or fewer INTs. 

CHARK ATTACK: Second-year WR DJ Chark Jr. caught three passes for 53 yards and leads the team with 33 receptions for 581 yards (17.6 rec. avg.) and five TDs this season. Chark posted a 33-yard catch, and has recorded eight receptions of at least 30 yards, the most in the NFL this season.
