Jackie Robinson Day Game Notes – Friday, April 15 vs. PHI

In celebration of the 75th Anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking Baseball’s color barrier, the Miami Marlins will host various activities for the South Florida community that spotlight Jackie’s legacy and his nine values. The Marlins, in conjunction with the Miami Marlins Foundation, have organized the following events in celebration of Jackie Robinson Day:

• The Marlins will host City Year Miami Learning & Development Day presented by Morgan Stanley at loanDepot park today for 80 City Year corps members who are dedicated to the education of at-risk youth in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. The group will participate in a training and skill-building session, with Jackie’s nine values as the theme.

• The Marlins will host approximately 100 young female baseball players from USA Baseball and MLB’s Trailblazer Series today at loanDepot park, connecting the players with Marlins General Manager Kim Ng for an intimate conversation.

•Two local high schools – Northwestern Senior and North Miami Beach Senior High – will take the field at loanDepot park on Monday, April 18 for the inaugural Jackie Robinson Classic presented by NIKE. The students will receive customized Marlins shirts in their respective school colors with the number 42 on the back along with one of Jackie’s nine values. The event is open to the public, with complimentary access for all.

Every player in tonight’s game will wear the number 42 in honor of Jackie Robinson.
