Club receives $100,000 in General Allocation Money in exchange
MIAMI (December 13, 2020) – Inter Miami CF has traded defender Ben Sweat to Austin FC in exchange for $100,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM).
Sweat was the first overall pick in the 2019 MLS Expansion Draft for Inter Miami, joining the Club on Nov. 19, 2019. The 29-year-old left back went on to make 22 regular season appearances for the Club in 2020, including 20 starts, registering a total of 1,675 minutes played and two assists.
The defender featured across several milestone moments for the Club. He started in the team’s debut match with a trip to face 2019 Supporters’ Shield champions LAFC, featured in the Club’s first win – a victory over Orlando City SC in the first home match at Inter Miami CF Stadium – and appeared as a substitute in the team’s playoff match against Nashville SC.
Sweat will join Austin FC ahead of its expansion season in MLS.

MIAMI (13 de diciembre de 2020) – Inter Miami CF ha traspasado al defensa Ben Sweat a Austin FC a cambio de $100.000 en Fondos de Adjudicación Generales.
Sweat fue seleccionado por Inter Miami como la primera selección general del Draft de Expansión 2019 de la MLS el 19 de noviembre de 2019. El lateral izquierdo de 29 años realizó 22 apariciones en la temporada regular, siendo titular en 20 de ellas, registrando un total de 1.675 minutos y dos asistencias con el Club.
El defensor formó parte de numerosos momentos históricos del Club. Fue titular en el debut del equipo en la MLS en un partido fuera de casa contra LAFC, ganadores del Supporters’ Shield de 2019. También participó en la primera victoria del Club – un triunfo sobre Orlando City SC en el primer partido como local en el Inter Miami CF Stadium – y vio minutos en el partido de postemporada contra Nashville SC.
Sweat se une a Austin FC de cara a su temporada de expansión en la MLS.
