| From David Volz Oakland Park has spent the past several years turning long-term plans into new facilities, green spaces, and public amenities residents can see and enjoy.This summer, that progress continues with four more park improvements ready to open to the community. New trails, better lighting, upgraded recreation amenities, and improved access will give residents more ways to move, gather, and enjoy the outdoors.The community is invited to celebrate at four upcoming ribbon cuttings is celebrating improvements at four new parks including Richard E. Giusti Heart Par Cours that had a ribbon cutting, Greenleaf Park with a ribbon cutting on Thursday, August 27, at 10 a.m., Royal Palm Park: Thursday with a ribbon cutting on September 10, at 10 a.m. and Veterans Park with a ribbon cutting on Friday, September 25, at 10 a.m.The Richard E. Giusti Heart Par Cours at 600 Park Lane East has been renovated. Improvements to one of Oakland Park’s well-known wellness destinations include trail upgrades, new fitness equipment, refreshed signage, seating, shade, and other amenities that will give residents more ways to stay active and enjoy the outdoors. Nearly $200,000 in Community Development Block Grant funding helped support the improvements.The four openings continue a summer of progress across Oakland Park. The new Oakland Park Library opened at City Centennial Park, bringing learning, technology, family spaces, and community resources together under one roof. Soon after, Stevens Field reopened with a new perimeter walking trail, restroom building, LED sports lighting, improved drainage, fresh grading and sod, and seating, all supported by a $1 million federal grant |
