Huempfner and Krolo Repeat as C-USA All-Academic Honorees

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University seniors Kevin Huempfner and Filip Krolo have been named to the 2023 Conference USA All-Academic team, as announced the C-USA office on Friday. The honor is the second for both tennis players.

Huempfner came to Florida Atlantic from Neckartailfingen, German, by way of Kentucky. He has been a consistent top member of the Owls since 2020 and has maintained above a 3.5 GPA every semester, earning a spot on the Dean’s List in the spring and fall of 2021 and the fall 2022 semesters. In part due to Huempfner’s play, the Owls have been a ranked team since his arrival onto campus, climbing as high as No. 35 nationally. The 2022 second team All-C-USA honoree regularly draws ranked opponents and has garnered C-USA Player of the Week honors twice. He holds an overall career record of 41-25 in singles play and is an outstanding doubles partner building a career-doubles record of 50-19.

Krolo, from Seligenstadt, Germany, joined the Owls as a freshman in the fall of 2019. He has been a member of the FAU’s All-Academic team every semester and recorded a 4.0 GPA during his first collegiate semester to earn a spot on the FAU President’s List and has since been a Dean’s List member in the Fall of 2021, as well as the spring and fall of 2022. Krolo has posted a 3.66 GPA or higher every semester, seven times. His court focus has primarily been as a doubles partner; however, he has recorded 16 singles decisions in 2022-23. In the fall of 2022, Krolo and doubles partner Nicholas Acevedo advanced to the 2022 ITA Fall National Championship. His FAU career doubles record stands at 42-29 overall and he is 17-36 in singles. Krolo has been an instrumental part of the squad’s national success helping the Owls climb as high as No. 35, in the Spring of 2022. He is immersed in FAU, attending multiple sporting events and is involved with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
