HSR Kicks-Off Four-Race Fall Schedule with Guest Appearance This Weekend at the Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association (VSCDA) Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival

Four Races in Final Four Months of 2020 Deliver Legendary U.S. Road Courses to HSR Competitors and Fans

CLEARWATER, Florida (September 14, 2020) – Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) kicks-off its annual fall stretch of races with a twist or two this year as HSR competitors and race fans alike prepare to visit four legendary U.S. race circuits over the course of the next four months.

It all begins this weekend at Road America where HSR competes as guests of the Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association (VSCDA) at the Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival (ELVF) XXXV, September 18 – 20.

The September Road America race is followed by an October stop at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta for the HSR Atlanta Fall Historics, a return to Daytona International Speedway in November for the globally popular HSR Classic Daytona 24 Hour and December’s traditional season-ending HSR Classic Sebring 12 Hour at Sebring International Raceway.

In addition to VSDCA graciously inviting HSR to join them at the magnificent four-mile Road America road course, another twist to HSR’s “final four” this year is that the quartet of races both opens and closes the 2020 HSR season.
The VSCDA Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival XXXV is HSR’s first circuit race event of 2020 following a lengthy delay as part of the motorsport’s industries across the board pause in the fight against COVID-19.

“This has obviously been a very different year for everyone, and we immediately joined the motorsports world last March in supporting the global pause in the fight against COVID-19,” HSR President David Hinton said. “The way the various closures and calendar fell, however, has kept us from running a single on-track event to date, but that all changes this weekend, thanks to the VSCDA. This year’s ‘final four’ fall stretch of races is also our ‘first four’ events of the season, but I don’t think you could ask for four better circuits or events. We can’t wait to get started.”

The guest appearance at the 35th running of one of VSCDA’s premier events will see HSR competitors from all classes placed in existing and appropriate VSCDA run groups. All HSR cars will be run within their existing rules packages and compete for individual HSR honors in each race. A variety of ticket options for the event are available at www.roadamerica.com.
Following Road America, October’s highlight is the HSR Atlanta Fall Historics at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, October 8 – 11. In one of many schedule changes and shifts this year, the HSR Atlanta Fall Historics was pushed back to October from its traditional September date, but the full schedule and format of the four-day event weekend is unchanged.
The 2020 season concludes for the fourth-straight year with back-to-back runnings of the HSR Classic Daytona presented by IMSA and the Classic Sebring 12 Hour presented by the Alan Jay Automotive Network.

The sixth edition of the HSR Classic Daytona presented IMSA 24-hour race returns to the World Center of Racing November 4 – 8. A month later, HSR travels to Florida’s other grand sports car course, Sebring International Raceway, for the fifth running of the HSR Classic Sebring 12 Hour, December 3 – 6.

The HSR Classic Daytona debuted in 2014 as a tribute race to the internationally famous Rolex 24 At Daytona, which has been run on the 3.56-mile road course at the World Center of Racing under a variety of different names for more than half-a-century. The race gives the iconic sports cars that were driven to glory at Daytona in the last few decades another chance to shine on the high banks.
The Classic Sebring 12 Hour celebrates not only the legendary race cars that have competed at Sebring over the last half century but also the rich military aviation history that first put Sebring on the map.
True endurance races, the HSR Classics feature period-correct Run Groups competing in succession for 24 hours at Daytona and through the weekend at Sebring in tribute to the 12-hour race.

In addition to their respective Daytona 24 and Sebring 12-hour race schedules, the HSR Classics weekends at Daytona and Sebring – and the HSR Atlanta Fall Historics – also feature HSR WeatherTech Sprint, HSR Stoner Car Care Global GT, HSR Sasco Sports International/American Challenge and HSR B.R.M. Chronographes Endurance Challenge races.

Tickets for the HSR Atlanta Fall Historics and HSR Classics at Daytona and Sebring are available at www.HSRTickets.com. A variety of options, from general admission on up to tent and RV parking, are available for all three events. COVID-19 protocols and safety procedures will be in place for all events.
