INDIANAPOLIS – This week, nine #HLWBB teams officially tipped off their 2019-20 campaigns with IUPUI posting a 2-0 record while Green Bay, Milwaukee, Oakland, and Youngstown State each picked up one victory.
#HLWBB NEWS & NOTES
• Chelsea Olson recorded Youngstown State’s first triple-double in 33 years in the season-opener against Canisius. Olson tallied 13 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds to help the Penguins win 87-59. Olson is just the second Penguin in program history to record a triple-double, and she is one of just two Horizon League players to register one since 2012-13.
• Through the first week of the season, Green Bay’s Frankie Wurtz and Karly Murphy lead the League in scoring, each with 21.0 points per game.
• Co-preseason favorites Green Bay and Wright State are both ranked in the College Insider Women’s Mid-Major Top 25. The Phoenix are ranked 13th, followed by the Raiders at 16th.
• IUPUI’s Rachel McLimore completed a three-point play with just .4 seconds on the clock to give the Jaguars a victory over Southern Illinois on Tuesday. Through two games, the redshirt sophomore is 18.0 points per game.
• Cleveland State’s Savanna Crockett leads the League in rebounding after posting 12 points and 13 rebounds at Bowling Green.
• UIC’s Jada Nneji and Oakland’s Kayla Luchenbach are tied for the League lead with 2.5 blocks per game.

Karly Murphy led Green Bay past Central Michigan to open the season with a career-high 30 points and nine rebounds. The Phoenix defeated the Chippewas 111-105 in double overtime. The 111 points scored by Green Bay is the second highest in program history. Murphy averaged 21.0 PPG and 7.5 rebounds in the first week of play, as GB battled two teams who advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season. Against South Dakota, the sophomore added 12 points and six rebounds, totaling a .487 field goal percentage in her two contests of the opening week of play.

Petit posted the Horizon League’s top field-goal percentage in the opening week as she went 13-for-21 for 61.9 percent from the floor. In the first two games of her career, she averaged 16 points, five rebounds and 3.5 assists as YSU beat Canisius and lost to Kent State in overtime. She scored 15 points and made three 3s in her debut against the Golden Griffins, and she followed that up by posting a team-high 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists while playing all 45 minutes versus the Golden Flashes.
