#HLWBB Weekly Release – Jan. 29

INDIANAPOLIS – Each team reached the halfway point of #HLWBB play this week with Green Bay picking up two road wins, Northern Kentucky and Wright State going 2-0 at home, and IUPUI improving to 8-1 with a victory in its only contest.

#HLWBB NEWS & NOTES

• IUPUI moved up to No. 17 in this week’s College Insider Women’s Mid-Major Top 25 Poll, while Wright State continued to receive votes.

• Macee Williams of IUPUI leads the League with 18.3 points per game in League play this season, while teammate Holly Hoopingarner is first with 4.8 assists per League game.

• Green Bay ranks 12th nationally in assist-turnover ratio (1.38) and eighth in turnovers per game (11.6).

• Wright State has totaled 869 rebounds this season, tenth among Division I programs. Tyler Frierson is first in the League with 10.1 rebounds per game in #HLWBB games.

• Youngstown State is 8th in the country in free throw percentage (78.1).

• The Jaguars are 15th among NCAA Division I teams in field goal percentage (46.3).

• Cleveland State’s Mariah White is ranked tenth nationally in steals per game (3.25).

• Grayson Rose of Northern Kentucky leads the League in blocks per game (1.7) in #HLWBB contests.

• Oakland’s Jalisha Terry has posted an assist-turnover ratio of 1.6 in 20 total games this season, best among #HLWBB players.

• NKU’s Ally Niece is averaging 3.9 assists in 17 games this season, first in the League in all contests.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

PLAYER OF THE WEEK | TYLER FRIERSON | WRIGHT STATE | JUNIOR | CENTER | LONG BEACH, CALIF.

Junior Tyler Frierson recorded back-to-back double-doubles for the Raiders at home against Detroit Mercy and Oakland this week. Against Detroit Mercy, the junior pulled down 11 rebounds, eight of which were offensive, adding 17 points for the Raiders. On Saturday against Oakland, the California native pulled down a game-leading 13 rebounds, nine of which were on the offensive end, and tallied 16 points. Through two games, the junior averaged 16.5 points per game and 12 rebounds per game.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK | SHAMARRE HALE | WRIGHT STATE | REDSHIRT FRESHMAN | FORWARD | CRETE, ILL.

Redshirt freshman Shamarre Hale tallied a total of 25 points between the Raiders two home Horizon League matchups against Detroit Mercy and Oakland last week.  Hale pulled down 20 rebounds between the two contests, with a game-leading and career-high 13 rebounds against Detroit Mercy Thursday. Through two games the redshirt freshman averaged 12.5 points per game (a career high 15 points vs. Oakland). Thursday’s contest marked Hale’s first career double-double in a Raiders uniform, which she earned in just 11 minutes of play.
