Governor Ron DeSantis Appoints David Lawrence Jr. to the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University Board of Trustees, John Miklos to the University of Central Florida Board of Trustees, and Marc Sarnoff to the Florida International University Board of Trustees

Tallahassee, Fla. — Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of David Lawrence Jr. to the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University Board of Trustees.

Lawrence Jr., of Coral Gables, is Chair of The Children’s Movement of Florida. Previously, he was publisher of The Miami Herald, publisher and executive director of the Detroit Free Press and editor of the Charlotte Observer. Lawrence Jr. has served on the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University Board of Trustees since 2015, is Director Emeritus on The Everglades Foundation Board of Directors and is a former Chairman of both the Children’s Trust of Miami-Dade County and the Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade/Monroe. He earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Florida and an Advanced Management Program Certificate from Harvard Business School.  This appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.

John Miklos

Miklos, of Orlando, is President of Bio-Tech Consulting, Inc. He is a member of the Florida Association of Environmental Professionals, Society of Wetland Scientists and has previously served as Chairman of the St. Johns River Water Management District Governing Board and on the Florida Environmental Regulation Commission. Miklos earned his bachelor’s degree in limnology from the University of Central Florida. This appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.

Tallahassee, Fla. — Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of Marc Sarnoff to the Florida International University Board of Trustees.  

Marc Sarnoff

Sarnoff, of Miami, is an attorney and partner at Shutts and Bowen where he is a member of the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group. He is a former two-term Chair of the City of Miami Commission and has served on the Florida International University Board of Trustees since 2016. Sarnoff previously served as Chairman of the Miami Downtown Development Authority and as a member of the Metropolitan Planning Organization of Miami-Dade County. He earned his bachelor’s degree in criminology from the University of Tampa, juris doctor from Loyola School of Law and a L.L.M, admiralty from Tulane School of Law.  This appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
