Gator Soccer Finishes SEC Regular Season Action With Two Road Matches

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida soccer finishes 2020 Southeastern Conference regular-season play with a two match road swing. The weekend starts at Kentucky on Friday and finishes Sunday at Missouri.

Half of the last eight UF-UK matches were decided by a single goal or ended in a tie, including the last meeting in Gainesville, Fla. (3-2 UF win). All four of UK’s wins over the Gators came on the road (three wins in Lexington; one win in Orange Beach, Ala.).

Since Missouri joined the Southeastern Conference in the 2012-13 season, six of the nine UF-MU matches were decided by a single goal or ended in a tie, including the last meeting in Gainesville, Fla. (3-2 UF win). Both of MU’s wins over the Gators came in Columbia, including a 2-0 victory when UF last visited on Oct. 21, 2018.

In Florida’s Last Match:
Florida couldn’t find the equalizer in its 2020 home finale, dropping a 2-1 match to Tennessee on Oct. 30. Tennessee scored a goal in each half. Claudia Dipasupil won a Gator distribution attempt and scored on a 25-yard shot that dipped just under the cross bar. She also played a role in UT’s next goal, sending in the corner kick that Jaida Thomas headed in at the 70th minute. Ten minutes later, Gator freshman Maddy Rhodes headed in a Parker Roberts corner kick.

Four of the last six meetings between UF and UT were decided by a single goal, including the last two.

About Kentucky:
Kentucky looks for its first home win of 2020 this Friday. The Wildcats opened the season with three consecutive losses (3-2 at Vanderbilt; 4-1 vs Arkansas, 1-0 at South Carolina) and then tied its next three matches – all by a 1-1 2OT score (vs Georgia and Tennessee at Auburn. The Wildcats closed 2020 SEC regular-season road play Sunday with a 4-1 loss at Missouri. UK is one of five SEC teams with three 2020 overtime matches (Auburn’s four OTs leads SEC).
Sophomore Jordyn Rhodes’ five goals shares the SEC lead in 2020. Redshirt senior Brooke Littman has played every minute in goal for UK in 2020 and owns a 1.96 goals against average.
About Missouri:
Missouri looks for its third home win Sunday. The Tigers have 1-1 ties versus LSU and at Mississippi State and losses at South Carolina (4-1), Tennessee (2-1). MU opened 2020 home action with a 2-1 victory over then No. 13 Vanderbilt on Oct. 3. Last Sunday, the Tigers jumped on Kentucky early with two goals in the opening six minutes to cruise to a 4-1 win, giving Head Coach Bryan Blitz his 250th win with the Tigers.

Senior Macy Trujillo leads MU with two goals and four points. Sophomore Isabella Alessio has played the entirety of MU’s last four matches and owns a 1.53 goals against average.
