Last Time Gators-Miami Played:

Florida and Miami met on April 3 in Coral Gables to finish the extended 2020-21 season. Florida scored early and late in the match for a 2-0 win. Freshman Beata Olsson’s interception of a pass between UM defenders led to her goal in the fifth minute. Samantha Tobar scored her first Gator goal in the 81st minute. The play started with Madison Alexander sending the ball right for Kouri Peace<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__floridagators.com_roster.aspx-3Frp-5Fid-3D13899&d=DwIFAg&c=sJ6xIWYx-zLMB3EPkvcnVg&r=o5LKAX7slotfFMyE71jI7L22NYBIi1-KbRGNSXudTPo&m=daq4B41l886HGEbqsqP-W8Bsbj8qbA1-kF4baED5F8Y&s=zb9giKsxeqdzcYvPoFvZziQV30h8mDYWczUcfrxWkZY&e= > to catch up to just inside the box. Peace’s square pass to Tobar located at top of the box was calmly placed in with a left-footed strike.

2021 Florida Notes:
This weekend’s schedule brings Florida’s in-state opponents to three. During the course of the 2021 season, Florida faces six opponents from the Sunshine State, which equals the 2019 season for the most meetings versus in-state rivals during the regular season action.

No. 19 UCF is Florida’s second top-20 opponent of the 2021 season. Florida is one of six teams to face two or more teams among the first two United Soccer Coaches top-25 poll through Week II. Texas A&M’s opening home action versus No. 9 Clemson on Sat., Aug. 28 gives the Aggies the national high of three top-25 meetings so far this season.

Graduate Kit Loferski has provided both of the Gators goals this season. Two goals is just one away from her collegiate season high of three goals as a freshman in 2016. How many times has a Gator opened the season with Florida’s first two goals? Loferski is the fifth in the program’s 27-season history.

2021 Records:

Florida (0-1-1, 0-0 SEC)

No. 19 Central Florida (1-0, 0-0 AAC)

Miami (1-0, 0-0 ACC)

Series Records:
UCF: UF leads 14-5-1
Miami: UF leads 9-2

About this Week’s Gator Opponents:
Central Florida
Central Florida played only American Athletic Conference play in spring 2021, posting a 2-4-1 to tie for sixth overall in the regular-season standings. The Knights did not advance to AAC Tournament, which was limited to four team due to the pandemic. UCF is picked to finish No. 5 in the fall 2021 ACC preseason poll. The Knight is ranked No. 19 on the Aug. 24 United Soccer Coaches poll after opening the season last Thursday with a 4-0 win over Texas.

UCF returns two from last spring’s All-AAC Second team – junior forward Ellie Moreno and fifth-year midfielder Madison Murnin. UCF’s points leader, sophomore Katie Bradley, also returns. She was named to the AAC All-Rookie Team after posting five points off two goals and an assist. Redshirt junior Caroline DeLisle is the reigning AAC Goalkeeper of the Week after registering the 13th shutout of her collegiate career in UCF’s 4-0 win over Texas on Aug. 19. DeLisle played all but 90 minutes last season, posting a 1.13 goals against average.

Miami
Like the Southeastern Conference, the Atlantic Coast Conference played its league season in the fall of 2020 and the teams played non-conference action in spring 2021. Miami tied for 13th in the ACC (0-8) and posted an overall record of 1-11-1 for the extended 2020-21 campaign. The Hurricanes did not advance to the eight-team ACC Tournament in fall of 2020. Miami is picked No. 14 in the 2021 ACC Preseason poll.

Redshirt sophomore Jackie Koerwitz’s two goals and four points led the Hurricanes in 2020-21. Senior goalkeeper Tyler Speaks played 66 percent of UM’s minutes last season, posting a goals against average of 2.65.
