Free mammograms available to women

Free mammograms available to women in Broward County

From David Volz

Free lifesaving mammograms will be available for women 40 to 60 years old, thanks in part to a contribution from Broward Commissioner Mark Bogen.

Commissioner Bogen earmarked $10,000 in unspent county office funds and joined in a partnership with BRCAStrong, to make the free mammograms available.

“The benefits of mammograms are well known in diagnosing breast cancer and successful treatment is available with early diagnosis. Unfortunately, not every woman can afford a mammogram, and these are the women who I want to help,” said Bogen.

The free mammograms will be available on November 5, 2022, at 4801 Coconut Creek Pkwy in Coconut Creek, between the hours of 8:00AM and 4:00PM.  Eligible women must be 40 to 60 years old, with no health insurance, no implants, and are of low income.  Participants must register by calling (305) 856-8366.  Registration assistance is available in English, Spanish and Creole.

“I believe in the work that BRCAStrong is doing to save women’s lives. Women who don’t have the financial means or health insurance for routine testing. On November 5th, I’ll present them with a check for $10,000.  Funds that I’m confident will assist in saving lives. I encourage women who are eligible to please register” said Bogen.

“We have a phenomenal group of dedicated sponsors,” said Tracy Milgram, founder of BRCAStrong. “We’re very lucky to have so many partners who are as passionate about education, awareness and advocacy as we are.”
