MIAMI LAKES, FLA. (orangebowl.org) – Frank Gonzalez was elected as second vice chair of the Orange Bowl Committee (OBC) at the organization’s annual elections in February.  Gonzalez is the managing principal for the Miami office of MBAF, Certified Public Accountants.

Gonzalez has served the OBC on the executive committee of the board of directors as treasurer for the last four years. He has been a Committee member since 2008 and has served in leadership roles on a number of OBC subcommittees including chair of the finance, audit, investments, compensation and legacy gifts committees. He also has participated on the football, strategic relations, sales strategy, human resources, team host, media host and youth football committees.

“Having the opportunity to be a member of the Orange Bowl Committee and now being elected as second vice chair has been a rewarding and humbling experience; not only to serve its members, but our community as well,” said Gonzalez. “Being a part of Orange Bowl programs such as youth sports and the upgrading of local parks and recreation centers, proves how the Committee values the well-being and stability of our amazing community.  I look forward to continuing the successes our prior leaders have instilled in this great organization by carrying the torch of being an ambassador for South Florida.”

Gonzalez is the principal-in-charge of the audit department at MBAF, and leads the firm’s Financial Institutions practice. As principal-in-charge of the audit department, Frank has full oversight of the firm’s audit practice in all offices, including the execution of processes and quality control, maintaining the department’s standards and ensuring the best practices among his team.

Frank is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, is a past president of both the Cuban-American Certified Public Accountants and South Florida Banking Institute, and a past board member of both the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Alliance of M&A Advisors.

Among the civic organizations he is involved with, he is co-chair of the United Way of Miami-Dade Tocqueville Society, treasurer of CINTAS Foundation and a board member of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and Area Stage Company.

Gonzalez received his bachelor of accounting from Florida International (FIU) and an MBA in accounting and finance from the University of Miami. At FIU, he is a member of the school’s Foundation Board, and is on the boards of the Athletic Association and School of Business Dean’s Council.

He and his wife Maria Elena have two children, Amanda and Frankie.

President and Chair José C. Romano leads the Orange Bowl Committee in the current 2019-20 campaign with president-elect and chair-elect Jeff E. Rubin and first vice chair John P. (Jack) Seiler slated to follow him to the president and chair position preceding Gonzalez.
