| 2/22/2024 | No. 11 Women’s Beach Volleyball DALLAS – Florida Atlantic beach volleyball’s Ashleigh Adams, Julie Honzovicova, Courtney Moon, and Marketa Svozilova were named to the Conference USA Preseason All-Conference Team as announced by the league office on Thursday. The CUSA beach volleyball preseason team consists of 10 all-conference honorees and one preseason player of the year, voted on by the league’s head coaches. 2024 is the second consecutive season the Sandy Owls have earned a league-leading four CUSA preseason all-conference honors, marking back-to-back honors for Honzovicova, Moon, and Svozilvoa, and the first for Adams. During the 2023 season, Adams, a sophomore from Newtown, Pennsylvania, was named 2023 CUSA Co-Freshman of the Year, 2023 C-USA All-Freshman Team, and earned CUSA Pair of the Week recognition alongside Honzovicova on March 8. This fall, the duo also earned CUSA Co-Pair of the Month honors. Adams finished the 2023 campaign with a team fourth-best 20-12 overall record, including tying for a team-best 15-7 pair record with Honzovicova. Adams recorded ranked wins against No. 15 Stetson, No. 14 FIU, No. 17 Stetson, No. 7 LMU, No. 18 Stetson, and defeated No. 12 FIU twice. She also earned CUSA Commissioner’s Academic Medal and Honor Roll honors.Honzovicova, a junior from Prague, Czech Republic, was named the 2023 CUSA Pair of the Year alongside Jillienne Cloud, in addition to earning 2023 CUSA First Team Pair recognition. She also became the program’s first-ever AVCA National Pair of the Week honoree alongside Cloud and earned CUSA Pair of the Week recognition with Adams on March 8. This fall, the junior was named the CUSA October Co-Pair of the Month with Adams. Honzovicova tied for a team-leading 24 wins last season, finishing with a 24-9 record. She tied for a team-best 15-7 pair record with Adams, including a season-best 7-5 record on court two, a 6-2 record on court one, and a perfect 2-0 record on court three. Honzovicova also earned 2023 CUSA Preseason All-Conference honors last year. Moon, a graduate student from Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas, was recognized as 2023 CUSA Preseason All-Conference a year ago. She finished with a 19-8 overall record in 2023, including a season-best 11-5 record on court four and an 8-3 record on court three. Moon tallied a season best 8-1 record pairing up with Svozilova, which included a season-high 6-1 record on court three and a perfect 2-0 record on court four. The duo earned CUSA Pair of the Week honors on April 12 after going 4-0 with wins against No. 7 LMU, No. 3 FSU, and FGCU. Moon also earned ranked wins over No. 2 and eventual national champion USC, No. 18 Stetson, No. 12 FIU, and No. 5 LSU, the latter of which was a three-set victory on court three during the NCAA Tournament. Moon produced a perfect 3-0 record with Svozilova during the 2023 CUSA Tournament, earning a pair of straight-set sweeps over UAB and FIU and claiming a three-set victory against Tulane. Moon was also recognized on the CUSA Commissioner’s Honor Roll last year.Svozilova, a junior from Brno, Czech Republic, also earned 2023 CUSA Preseason All-Conference honors last year. Svozilova finished the season with a 9-2 over record, including a season-best 6-1 record on court three. She played primarily with Moon, tallying a season-best 8-1 record. The junior picked up ranked wins against No. 17 & 18 Stetson, No. 7 LMU, No. 3 FSU, No. 12 FIU, and No. 5 LSU in the NCAA Tournament. Svozilova produced a perfect 3-0 record with Moon during the 2023 CUSA Tournament, earning a pair of straight-set sweeps over UAB and FIU and claiming a three-set victory against Tulane. She also earned CUSA Commissioner’s Academic Medal and Honor Roll honors.
