Fort Myers Beach among priciest U.S. travel destinations for Presidents’ Day weekend

Fort Myers Beach, a popular southwest Florida destination, is one of the most expensive destinations within the United States to visit over Presidents’ Day weekend in 2020.

Cheaphotels.org conducted a survey, comparing U.S. destinations according to hotel rates, Feb. 14–17, and found travelers to Fort Myers Beach over the weekend will spend at least $494 per night for the most affordable double rooms in the city. The survey only included hotels rated at least 3 stars and located close to a beach or city center.

However, Fort Myers Beach isn’t the most expensive U.S. travel destination for Presidents’ Day weekend. That honor goes to Lahaina, Hawaii, where room rates start at $527 per night. Wailea, Hawaii, comes in second, with room rates starting at $499. Fort Myers Beach takes the third spot.

Fort Myers Beach’s neighbor, Sanibel Island, is the sixth most-expensive destination for the weekend, with room rates starting at $429 per night. A ski resort also made the list, with Vail room rates starting at $416.
