Fort Lauderdale approves agreements

The City Commission discussed the status of projects at Lockhart Park and opportunities to move forward with the agreement between the City and Inter Miami for additional improvements. As mediation process between the City and Inter Miami moves forward, members of the Commission were open on extending the agreement for parking services at the Lockhart Park portion of DRV PNK Stadium for 60 days, with the expectation that Inter Miami pays approximately $1.4 million in permit fees. The current parking agreement is scheduled to expire May 6, 2023

The City Commission approved an agreement with Sagaris Corp. for the Bayview, Hortt, and Riverside Parks Improvements projects in the amount of $1.7 million. The Commission approved the mentioned improvements in May 2021 as part of the Parks Bond Program Phase I. This work, while not the same at all three parks, includes improvements to sidewalks and landscaping, concession and restroom renovations, lighting, and fitness park enhancements, among others.

The City Commission approved an agreement with CareerSource Broward for a three-year term for the City of Fort Lauderdale Summer Youth Employment Program. For the past 19 years, the City has participated in the program, which serves at-risk youth in the community. All the students are residents of Fort Lauderdale who meet an established income threshold. The proposed program will be open to residents between 16-18 years of age, and as many as 63 students will have the opportunity to work at various City departments.

The City Commission adopted a resolution supporting the Broward Metropolitan Organization (MPO) Complete Streets Master Plan priority project on SE/SW 17th Street from Federal Highway (US-1) to SW 9th Avenue. The project intends to provide improved vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle access to and from the future Broward Commuter Rail station at the Florida East Coast Railroad tracks.

The City Commission approved an agreement for plumbing services and maintenance with Pipeline Plumbing Services of Broward, Inc. The initial one-year contract is in the amount of $325,000, and the agreement allows for the approval of three additional one-year renewal options, a potential total contract award amount of $1.3 million. The agreement provides support for major troubleshooting work, repairs and replacements, after-hour emergencies, and assistance with daily work orders.
