    OCTOBER RECAP
    The Panthers suffered their first loss of the season in a shootout at BOS on Oct. 30, but completed their best-ever month of October earning 17 of a possible 18 points over their nine contests (8-0-1). Over the month of October, the Cats led the NHL in goals (36), even-strength goals (29), five-on-five goals (22), 3rd period goals (15) and overtime goals (2-tied), and ranked second in takeaways (86). Florida allowed just 1.89 goals per game over nine games in October, the third-fewest among NHL teams, surrendering two or less goals in regulation in seven of their nine games.
    THE SHOW GOES ON
    Florida’s nine-game point streak to start the regular season is their second-longest point streak to start a campaign, behind a 12-game point streak (8-0-4) from Oct. 5-30, 1996, which is tied for the seventh-longest point streak to start a season in NHL history. FLA’s current streak is tied for their third longest point streak in franchise history.

    HOME SWEET HOME
    Tonight, the Panthers return to FLA Live Arena where they own a 5-0-0 record this season, and are 9-0-0 on home ice since April 24 vs. CAR. Over five games at FLA Live Arena this season, the Cats have never scored less than four goals and have outscored their opponents 23-10. Their 23 goals scored on home ice paced all NHL teams over the month of October. Aaron Ekblad led all NHL defensemen with three goals on home ice (3-3-6) in October.
    CAPS AND CATS
    The Cats and Capitals face off tonight for the first time since the 2019-20 season. Over Florida’s two games vs. WSH in 2019-20, Aleksander Barkov led the team with three points (1-2-3). Since 2015-16, the Panthers own a 8-4-2 record against WSH. Barkov has produced 16 points (4-12-16) over 17 career games vs. WSH, and Jonathan Huberdeau has amassed 19 points (3-16-19) over 22 career games against the Caps.
    O CAPTAIN! MY CAPTAIN!
    Panthers Captain Aleksander Barkov has scored three goals over his past two games and has recorded at least one point over each of his past four contests (3-2-5). He scored two goals including the OT-GWG Oct 29 at DET, his seventh career OT goal. With the goal, Barkov (7-10-17) surpassed Olli Jokinen (10-6-16) for most regular season overtime points in club history. His 10 points (5-5-10) this season rank second on FLA. Barkov’s 186 NHL tallies ranks second behind Olli Jokinen (188) for the most goals scored in franchise history. The Tampere, Finland native also owns the second-most assists (289) and points (475) in club history.
    JONNY B. GOOD
    Jonathan Huberdeau skated in his 600th NHL game and posted an assist for the sixth consecutive game Oct. 30 at BOS, and he has recorded nine points (3-6-9) over those past six games. He is one game shy of matching his career-high seven-game point streak, which he has achieved three times (7 GP in 2020-21, 2017-18 &2015-16). Huberdeau leads the Cats this season with 11 points (3-8-11) and is tied for the club lead with four power-play points. The 28-year-old is FLA’s franchise leader for assists (338) and points (509), and his 600 games played are the third-most by a Panther in club history.
    EK’S GON’ GIVE IT TO YA
    Aaron Ekblad produced two assists Oct. 30 at BOS and has recorded at least one point in seven of FLA’s first nine games (3-6-9). Ekblad’s two-assist performance against BOS was his 30th career multi-point game. He skated a season-high 29:19 time on ice Oct. 29 at DET. He leads the team with 25:34 time on ice per game and 29 shots on goal, and is tied for the club lead with a plus-10 rating. His team-leading 230:10 total time on ice and 32:57 total shorthanded time on ice were the third-most among NHL skaters in October.
    THE DUKE
    Anthony Duclair scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season Oct. 30 at BOS, and he has tallied three goals over his past four games (3-1-4). He notched his first assist of the season for his 200th NHL point Oct. 29 at DET. He tallied a goal in each of Florida’s first three games of the regular season (3-0-3), matching his season-long goal streak from 2020-21 (4G in 3GP, April 27-May 1, 2021). His plus-nine rating is tied for the team lead among FLA forwards.
    YOU’RE ON THE CASE, BOBROVSKY
    Sergei Bobrovsky has won each of his first six starts of a season for the first time in his career (6-0-0) and is the first goaltender in club history to win at least his first six starts of a season. His six-game win streak is tied for the second-longest by a FLA goalie in club history. He has allowed just seven goals against over his past five starts. Over his first six appearances this season, he owns a .944 save percentage and a 1.81 goals against average.
    Bobrovsky earned his 300th NHL win Oct. 21 vs. COL, requiring the second-fewest appearances in NHL history to reach the mark behind only Jacques Plante (521 GP, per NHL PR). Bobrovsky’s 48 wins as a Panther are six shy of surpassing James Reimer for fourth-most in franchise history.
    RETURN OF THE MACK
    MacKenzie Weegar logged a season-high six blocked shots Oct. 30 at BOS, and he leads FLA with 20 blocked shots and ranks second on the club with 25 hits and 10 takeaways (tied). Weegar has notched five assists (0-5-5) over nine games and paces FLA with 184:12 total even-strength time on ice, which was the fourth-most even-strength time on ice among NHL skaters in the month of October.
    BENNY AND THE CATS
    Sam Bennett recorded two assists Oct. 25 vs. ARI. Over 18 career regular season games with FLA, he has posted 22 points (10-12-22), including seven multi-point performances. Bennett ranks second on FLA with 27 shots on goal and owns the third-most goals (4). His seven points (4-3-7) are tied for fourth-most on FLA with four other Panthers. He tallied his second career hat trick (3-0-3) Oct 16 vs. NYI. Bennett’s two game-winning goals are tied with Jonathan Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov for most on FLA.
    SAM’S NEW CLUB
    Sam Reinhart produced two assists Oct. 27 vs. BOS, and has notched at least one point in five of his last seven games (2-5-7). He posted his 300th NHL point Oct. 25 vs. ARI. Reinhart notched his first two points (0-2-2) as a Panther Oct. 19 at TBL.
    JUMBO JOE
    Joe Thornton scored his first goal as a Panther Oct. 25 vs. ARI, becoming the second-oldest player in Panthers history to score a regular-season goal (42 years and 115 days) behind Jaromir Jagr (45 years, 45 days on April 1, 2014). The goal was Thornton’s 426th NHL goal and 1,531st NHL point. He is two points shy of surpassing Paul Coffey for 13th-most points in league history.
    AGENT CARTER
    Carter Verhaeghe posted an assist Oct. 30 at BOS. He has produced six points (3-3-6) over FLA’s first nine games, all at even strength, and ranks second among FLA forwards in even-strength time on ice per game (15:04). Verhaeghe posted his fifth career multi-goal game, including his first career overtime goal in Florida’s season-opening contest Oct. 14 vs. PIT.
    USE THE FORS
    Gustav Forsling notched a career-high three assists (0-3-3) Oct. 27 vs. BOS, his second career three-point performance ((1-2-3, Dec. 8, 2017 vs. BUF). The 25-year-old ranks second on the team in assists (7), takeaways (10-tied) and sits third in blocked shots (14).
    STONE MASON
    Mason Marchment scored his first goal of the season Oct. 27 vs. BOS. He has registered five points (1-4-5) over his first seven games this season, all at even strength. He posted his first career multi-point game (0-2-2) Oct. 21 vs. COL, assisting on FLA’s first and fourth goals of the game. The 26-yearold native of Uxbridge, Ontario leads FLA forwards with 20 hits this season.
    FINNTASTIC
    Rookie Anton Lundell recorded five points (2-3-5) over his first five NHL games. With his assist Oct. 23 at PHI, he became the second FLA rookie to post five points over his first five NHL games after Aleksander Barkov (2-3-5, 5GP, 2013-14).

TONIGHT’S CITY FURNITURE MILITARY HERO: Wilmayra Colón


Tonight’s Hero Among Us is Wilmayra Colón. Originally from Puerto Rico, Wilmayra enlisted with the US Coast Guard in 2015 and is still currently serving. She has been deployed to the Eastern Pacific and is currently based in Miami. Wilmayra has earned the USCG Achievement Medal, USCG Letter of Commendation, and USCG Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
