  • Tonight the Florida Panthers will celebrate Hockey Fights Cancer at FLA Live Arena in partnership with Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center

TONIGHT’S CITY FURNITURE MILITARY HERO: Fred Doctor

 Tonight’s Hero Among Us is Vietnam War Veteran and cancer survivor, Fred Doctor. Fred served in the US Navy from 1967-1973. He was deployed to the Northern Pacific during the Cold War and to Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Fred is the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal w/ two Bronze Stars.

    HOME SWEET HOME
    With their win Nov. 18 vs. NJD, the Panthers extended their franchise-record season-opening home win streak to 9-0-0. Florida’s nine-game streak marks the longest home wining streak in franchise history and is tied for the fourth-longest in league history. The Cats have won 13 consecutive home games on home ice dating back to April 24, 2021 vs. CAR, the franchise’s longest home winning streak spanning multiple seasons. The Panthers have scored a league-leading 43 goals on home ice, allowing just 18 goals against. Florida remains the only NHL teams without a regulation loss on home ice in 2021-22. Anthony Duclair leads the Cats in scoring at home with seven goals and 12 points (7-5-12). Sergei Bobrovsky owns a 5-0-0 record, .956 save percentage and 1.49 goals against average on home ice in 2021-22.

    DRAW FOUR
    The Panthers are the fifth team in NHL history with at least four goals in each of their first nine home games to start a season, including six outings with five goals or more. Their nine-game streak of at least four tallies on home ice to start a season matches the third-longest such streak in NHL history and is two games shy of the league record (PHI, 11 games in 1992-93).
    POUR IT ON
    Through games played Nov. 18, Florida led all NHL teams with 66 goals scored, 3.88 goals scored per game and 45 five-on-five goals.
    BLACKJACK
    The Cats have scored 21 goals in all three periods this season. Through games played Nov. 18, they rank in the top three in goals scored in the first period (1st), second period (T-1st), third period (T-3rd) and overtime (3, T-1st).
    SPREADING THE LOVE
    Eleven different Panthers have produced at least nine points this season, the most of any NHL team, and the Cats have a league-leading seven players with at least five goals scored.
    THAT’S MINE
    The Panthers rank second among NHL teams with 172 takeaways this season, including a league-leading 86 takeaways over eight games played since Nov. 4. Nine different Panthers have registered at least 10 takeaways in 2021-22, tied with NJD for the most among NHL teams.
    HIT PARADE
    The Cats logged a season-high 35 hights Nov. 18 vs. NJD. Florida has logged the sixth-most hits among NHL teams (439), led by Radko Gudas. Gudas’ 73 hits lead all NHL defenseman and are the second-most by any skater in 2021-22 through games played Nov. 18. MacKenzie Weegar’s 51 hits are tied for sixth-most among league blueliners.
    CATS AND WILD
    The Panthers and Wild face off tonight for the first time since the 2019-20 season, where the two teams split their two-game series. Florida defeated Minnesota 5-4 at Xcel Energy Center on Jan. 20, 2020, behind Noel Acciari’s goal with six seconds remaining in the third period. Panthers Interim Head Coach Andrew Brunette skated in 489 regular season games with MIN (2001-02 to 2003-04, 2008-09 to 2010-11), amassing 321 points (119-202-321).
    JONNY B. GOOD
    Jonathan Huberdeau has tallied a goal in each of his past three games (3-1-4). He has produced at least one point in 13 of FLA’s 17 games this season. His 17 points (6-11-17) are tied for the club lead and he leads FLA with 11 assists. He also leads the club with five power-play points (1-4-5). The 28-year-old is FLA’s franchise leader for assists (341) and points (515), and his 608 games played are the third-most by a Panther in club history. He ranks tied for second among FLA forwards with 27 hits.
    EK’S GON’ GIVE IT TO YA
    Aaron Ekblad has produced a point in each of his past three games (1-2-3). Ekblad’s five goals scored have all been tallied at FLA Live Arena, and are tied for the second-most goals scored by any NHL defenseman this season. Ekblad leads FLA blueliners with 13 points (5-8-13). His +14 rating is tied for the club lead and is tied for the league lead among blueliners along with MacKenzie Weegar. He leads the team with 25:20 time on ice per game and 51 shots on goal.
    YOU’RE ON THE CASE, BOBROVSKY
    Sergei Bobrovsky owns a 7-0-2 record in 2021-22. He is the only goaltender without a regulation loss who has at least nine games played this season, and the second FLA goaltender in club history since John Vanbiesbrouck in 1996-97 (6-0-3) with points in each of his first nine or more decisions in a season. Through games played Nov. 18, Bobrovsky ranked second among NHL goaltenders with a .942 save percentage (min. nine games played). Over his 10 appearances this season, he owns a 1.78 goals against average, which is fourth-best among goaltenders with at least 10 appearances. He has not lost in regulation in his past 12 regular season appearances (9-0-2), and has won six straight games at FLA Live Arena dating back to May 8 vs. TBL.
    THE DUKE
    Anthony Duclair recorded his second multi-point performance of the campaign Nov. 18 vs. NJD (1-1-2). Duclair leads all Panthers in goals and points on home ice (7-5-12). His plus-14 rating is tied for the club lead and paces all NHL forwards. Duclair’s nine goals are tied for most on FLA and his 16 points (9-7-16) rank third on the club. He has tallied 98 goals over his NHL career. Eight of his goals have been scored at even strength, tied for the fifthmost among league skaters through Nov. 18.
    RETURN OF THE MACK
    MacKenzie Weegar has notched an assist in each of his past two games. The 27-year-old native of Ottawa, Ontario ranks second on FLA with 51 hits this season and he leads the team with 33 blocked shots. His eight helpers are tied for second-most among Florida defensemen. He leads FLA blueliners with 18 takeaways, and he paces FLA with 343:18 total even-strength time on ice.
    KNIGHT TIME
    Spencer Knight made made a career high 45 saves Nov. 18 vs. NJD, improving his record at FLA Live Arena this season to 4-0-0. Knight’s performance marked the most saves in a game by a Panthers rookie goaltender in club history.
    USE THE FORS
    Gustav Forsling has posted 10 assists this season, all at even strength. His 10 even-strength points rank second-most among NHL blueliners. He leads the club with eight assists on home ice in 2021-22. The 25-year-old ranks third on FLA with 21 blocked shots.
    BENNY AND THE CATS
    Sam Bennett logged six hits and five shots on goal Nov. 18 vs. NJD. He has produced five goals and nine points (5-4-9) over 13 games this season. He has amassed 24 points (11-13-24) over 23 total regular season games as a Panther. His 44 shots on goal are tied for second-most on the club.
    AGENT CARTER
    Carter Verhaeghe has tallied a goal in each of his past two games. He has notched five points (2-3-5) over his past five games, and nine (2-7-9) over his past nine games. He has produced 14 points (5-9-14) over 17 games and leads FLA forwards in total even-strength time on ice (256:54). His 13 even-strength points (5-8-13) are tied for second-most on FLA.
    WELCOME TO THE GUD LIFE
    Radko Gudas logged seven hits, three blocked shots and two takeaways Nov. 16 vs. NYI. He registered eight hits Nov. 11 at PIT, the most in a game by a Panther this season. He leads FLA with 73 hits this season. Since Jan. 1, he paces all NHLers with 323 hits over 70 games played. Gudas ranks second on FLA with 29 blocked shots.
    SAM’S NEW CLUB
    Sam Reinhart has registered 11 points (3-8-11) over his first 17 games as a Panther, including points in nine of his past 15 contests. Eight of his 11 points have come at even strength (3-5-8) and his 235:34 even strength time on ice ranks second among FLA forwards.
    FINNISH PHENOM
    Anton Lundell leads all NHL forwards with at least 12 games played with 3:09 shorthanded time on ice per game. He has produced seven points (3-4-7) over 12 games this season, and leads all Panthers forwards with 16 blocked shots and his 13 takeaways are third-most.
    TIPPING THE SCALES
    Owen Tippett posted an assist Nov. 16 vs. NYI. He has produced a point in four of his past seven games (1-4-5). He recorded his first multi-point performance of the season (1-1-2) Nov. 9 at NJD. He has registered nine points (3-6-9) in 2021-22, all at even strength.
