TONIGHT’S CITY FURNITURE MILITARY HERO: Dennis Glover

Tonight’s Hero Among Us is retired U.S. Navy veteran Dennis Glover. Dennis served as a nurse from 1991-2013 with deployments to Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan. He is the recipient of the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal (2).

    HOME SWEET HOME
    With their win Nov. 16 vs. NYI, the Panthers extended their franchise-record season-opening home win streak to 8-0-0. Florida has won 12 consecutive games on home ice dating back to April 24, 2021 vs. CAR, the longest home win streak in club history. The Cats have scored a league-leading 39 goals on home ice, allowing just 17 goals against, and they have scored at least four goals in all eight of their games at FLA Live Arena. Florida is the only NHL team without a regulation loss on home ice this season. Anthony Duclair leads the Cats in scoring at home with six goals and 10 points (6-4-10), while Sergei Bobrovsky owns a 5-0-0 record, .956 save percentage and 1.49 goals against average on home ice in 2021-22.

    The Panthers have scored four goals in the first period of each of their past two home games. The Cats lead the NHL with 20 first-period goals through games played Nov. 16. Florida has tallied the first goal of the game 10 times season and owns a 9-1-0 record in those games.

    Through games played Nov. 16, Florida led all NHL teams with 62 goals scored and ranked second with 3.88 goals scored per game and 41 total fiveon-five goals scored.
    SPREADING THE LOVE
    Seven different Panthers have produced at least 10 points this season, tied with ANA for most among NHL teams. Six Panthers have scored at least five goals, the most of any club in 2021-22.
    THAT’S MINE
    The Panthers rank second among NHL teams with 160 takeaways this season, including a league-leading 74 takeaways over seven games played since Nov. 4. Aleksander Barkov’s 22 takeaways lead all NHL forwards and were the second-most among all NHL skaters through games played Nov. 16, and MacKenzie Weegar had logged the fourth-most with 18. Eight different Panthers have registered at least 10 takeaways in 2021 22, the most among NHL teams behind only NJD (9).
    HIT PARADE
    Florida has logged the seventh-most hits among NHL teams, led by Radko Gudas. Gudas’ 68 hits lead all NHL defenseman and are the second-most by any skater in 2021-22 through games played Nov. 16. MacKenzie Weegar’s 49 hits are tied for fifth-most among league blueliners.
    CATS AND DEVILS
    The Panthers and Devils face off for the second time this season following New Jersey’s 7-3 victory Nov. 9 at Prudential Center. Florida owns a 5-0-1 record over their past six home games against the Devils since 2015-16.
    JONNY B. GOOD
    Jonathan Huberdeau has tallied a goal in each of his past two games (2-0-2). He scored his fifth goal of the campaign and logged four blocked shots Nov. 16 vs. NYI. He has produced at least one point in 12 of FLA’s 16 games this season and ranks tied for the team lead in assists (10). His 15 points (5-10-15) are second-most on FLA, and he leads the club with five power-play points (1-4-5). The 28-year-old is FLA’s franchise leader for assists (340) and points (513), and his 607 games played are the third-most by a Panther in club history. He leads FLA forwards with 27 hits and 36:58 total
    shorthanded time on ice.
    EK’S GON’ GIVE IT TO YA
    Aaron Ekblad scored his fifth goal of the season Nov. 16 vs. NYI. All five of his goals have been scored at FLA Live Arena, and are the second-most goals scored by any NHL defenseman this season. Ekblad leads FLA blueliners with 12 points (5-7-12). His +12 rating is tied for the club lead and is tied for the fourth-best among league blueliners along with MacKenzie Weegar. He leads the team with 25:28 time on ice per game and 48 shots on goal.
    YOU’RE ON THE CASE, BOBROVSKY
    Sergei Bobrovsky owns a 7-0-2 record in 2021-22. He is the only goaltender without a regulation loss who has at least nine games played this season, and the second FLA goaltender in club history since John Vanbiesbrouck in 1996-97 (6-0-3) with points in each of his first nine or more decisions in a season. Through games played Nov. 16, Bobrovsky ranked second among NHL goaltenders with a .942 save percentage (min. nine games played).
    Over his 10 appearances this season, he owns a 1.78 goals against average, which is tied for second-best among goaltenders with at least 10 appearances. He has not lost in regulation in his past 12 regular season appearances (9-0-2), and has won six straight games at FLA Live Arena dating back to May 8 vs. TBL.
    THE DUKE
    Anthony Duclair notched an assist Nov. 16 vs. NYI. Duclair leads all Panthers in goals and points on home ice (6-4-10). His plus-12 rating is tied for the club lead and is tied for the league lead among forwards. Duclair’s eight goals are second-most on FLA and his 14 points rank third on the club. He has tallied 97 goals over his NHL career.
    RETURN OF THE MACK
    MacKenzie Weegar registered his seventh assist of the season Nov. 16 vs. NYI. The 27-year-old native of Ottawa, Ontario ranks second on FLA with 49 hits this season and he leads the team with 31 blocked shots. His seven helpers are tied for second-most among Florida defensemen. He leads FLA blueliners with 18 takeaways, and he paces FLA with 324:47 total even-strength time on ice.
    USE THE FORS
    Gustav Forsling notched his 10th assist of the season Nov. 9 at NJD. He is three assists shy of setting a new career high for assists in a season. His 10 helpers are tied with Jonathan Huberdeau for most on FLA and are tied for 10th-most among NHL defensemen through Nov. 16. All 10 of his assists have come at even strength. His 10 even-strength points rank second-most among NHL blueliners. He leads the club with eight assists and a plus-eight rating on home ice in 2021-22. The 25-year-old ranks third on FLA with 18 blocked shots.
    BENNY AND THE CATS
    Sam Bennett posted an assist Nov. 16 vs. NYI. He has produced five goals and nine points (5-4-9) over 12 games this season. He has amassed 24 points (11-13-24) over 22 total regular season games as a Panther. His 39 shots on goal are third-most on the club.
    AGENT CARTER
    Carter Verhaeghe scored his fourth goal of the season Nov. 16 vs. NYI. He has notched four points (1-3-4) over his past four games, and eight (1-7-8) over his past eight games. He has produced 13 points (4-9-13) over 16 games and leads FLA forwards in total even-strength time on ice (243:03). His 12 even-strength points (4-8-12) are the second-most on FLA.
    WELCOME TO THE GUD LIFE
    Radko Gudas logged seven hits, three blocked shots and two takeaways Nov. 16 vs. NYI. He registered eight hits Nov. 11 at PIT, the most in a game by a Panther this season. He leads FLA with 68 hits this season. Since Jan. 1, he paces all NHLers with 318 hits over 69 games played. His 1,966 hits are 59 shy of surpassing Roman Polak for most hits by a Czech Republic-born NHL player in league history. Gudas ranks second on FLA with 28 blocked shots.
    MONTOUR OF DUTY
    Brandon Montour notched two assists Nov. 16 vs. NYI, his third multi-assist game of the season. Montour has produced nine points (2-7-9) over 16 games this season. The 27-year-old native of Brantford, Ontario has logged 13 blocked shots in 2021-22.
    SAM’S NEW CLUB
    Sam Reinhart has recorded a point in four of his last seven games (1-3-4). Reinhart has registered 11 points (3-8-11) over his first 16 games as a Panther, including points in nine of his past 14 contests. Eight of his 11 points have come at even strength (3-5-8) and his 221:34 even strength time on ice ranks third among FLA forwards.
    FINNISH PHENOM
    Anton Lundell ranks third among NHL forwards with at least 12 games played with 3:04 shorthanded time on ice per game. He notched an assist Nov. 11 at PIT, and has produced seven points (3-4-7) over 12 games this season, tied for the third-most of any player selected in the 2020 NHL Draft. He leads all Panthers forwards with 16 blocked shots and his 13 takeaways are third-most.
    TIPPING THE SCALES
    Owen Tippett posted an assist Nov. 16 vs. NYI. He has produced a point in four of his past six games (1-4-5). He recorded his first multi-point performance of the season (1-1-2) Nov. 9 at NJD. He has registered nine points (3-6-9) in 2021-22, all at even strength.
