Florida Panthers Head Coach Joel Quenneville Named 2020-21 Jack Adams Award Finalist

Quenneville named a ‘Head Coach of the Year’ finalist for third time, won award in 1999-00

SUNRISE, Fla. – The National Hockey League announced today that Florida Panthers Head Coach Joel Quenneville has been named a finalist for the 2020-21 Jack Adams Award presented annually ‘to the coach adjudged to have contributed the most to his team’s success.’

Quenneville completed his second season as head coach of the Panthers with a 37-14-5 record and .705 points percentage, leading the club to a playoff berth and finishing the season ranking second in the Central Division and fourth in the NHL. The club’s 37 wins ranked tied for third in the NHL, while owning a 20-5-3 home record and 17-9-2 road record.

Under Quenneville, Florida opened the season on an eight-game point streak (6-0-2) and seven-game road point streak (6-0-1). The Panthers were the final team in the league to lose a game in regulation (Feb. 7) and the final team to lose a game in regulation on the road (Feb. 20).

From March 20 – April 20, the Panthers owned a season-high seven consecutive home wins and over Florida’s final 15 home games of the season, the club owned a 13-2-0 record.

The Panthers concluded the regular season by tying their season-high for consecutive wins, earning their second six-game winning streak of the season with a 4-0 win over the 2020 Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning.

Florida completed the 2020-21 season standing tied for fourth in the NHL for goals per game (3.36), while owning the ninth-least goals against per game in the League (2.70).

On the road, the Panthers ranked second in the NHL on the power play (26.3) and scored 94 total goals, the second-most in the League.
