Florida Panthers Expand Executive Leadership Team with New C-Suite Hires

Organization Welcomes Lauren Cochran as Chief Marketing Officer, James Suh as  

Chief Financial Officer, and Mark Zarthar as Chief Strategy Officer

SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers President and CEO Matt Caldwell today announced three new additions to the organization’s executive team. Lauren Cochran joins the Panthers as Chief Marketing Officer, James Suh joins as Chief Financial Officer, and Mark Zarthar joins as Chief Strategy Officer.    

“Given the organization’s rapid growth over the last few years, as well as the expansion of our properties in the near future, we are thrilled to welcome these three highly-experienced executives to our leadership team,” said Caldwell. “Lauren, James, and Mark each bring a fresh new perspective, superb talent, deep knowledge and passion—backed by a proven track record of success—that will undoubtedly work to enhance the Panthers at every level and springboard our franchise forward.” 

Chief Marketing Officer Lauren Cochran joins the Panthers after nine successful years with the NBA’s Miami Heat, where she most recently served as Chief of Digital Marketing. A native of Richboro, Penn. and graduate of George Washington University, Cochran previously served seven years for the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers in roles ranging from sales and service to marketing and digital media. With more than 16 years of sports & entertainment marketing experience and a seasoned understanding of content, retail, and the South Florida market, in her new role as Panthers Chief Marketing Officer, Cochran will oversee marketing, content, creative, social media, game presentation, retail, and digital media for the Florida Panthers, FLA Live Arena, Panthers IceDen, and Ft. Lauderdale War Memorial. 

Toronto native James Suh joins the Panthers as Chief Financial Officer following an 11-year tenure with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE). In his most recent role as MLSE’s Vice President of Finance, Suh oversaw and managed all aspects of financial planning & analysis, accounting, and cash flows. A graduate of the University of Toronto, Suh has also held roles in FP&A, accounting and audit at The Canadian Tire Corporation, Unilever and PricewaterhouseCoopers, respectively. As Panthers Chief Financial Officer, Suh will oversee all aspects of Sunrise Sports & Entertainment’s financial and legal affairs.  

Mark Zarthar joins the Panthers as Chief Strategy Officer, having most recently held the role of Senior Vice President of Marketing for the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers. With more than a decade of brand strategy and sports marketing experience, Zarthar will take leadership of Panthers brand strategy, communications, business intelligence, ticket operations, and broadcast teams with an emphasis on long-term growth and innovation for the Florida Panthers, FLA Live Arena, Panthers IceDen, and Ft. Lauderdale War Memorial. A Massachusetts native and graduate of the University of Richmond, Zarthar holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He has previously held roles with MLB’s Houston Astros and Anheuser-Busch, where he respectively served as Global Director of Sports Marketing.
