The Gators take part in the Regional Round of the NCAA Cross Country Championships
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Gators Cross Country teams begin NCAA action in the South Regional on Friday, November 9 in Huntsville, Alabama.
The women will compete in the 6K at 9:30 a.m. EST., and the men will begin the 10K race at 10:30 a.m. EST. This is the first 10K the men have competed in this season and the fourth 6K for the women.
Florida enters the NCAA South Regional coming off a 5th place finish by the women’s team and a 10th place finish by the men at the SEC Championships. At the meet, Parker Valby built upon her already impressive season by running a 18:25.87 in the 6K and winning the SEC Women’s Individual title. Her time was the fastest 6K time ever recorded at any championship event and broke the school 6K record by 29.11 seconds. Jordan Shapiro was the second Gator to cross the finish line with a time of 20:08.68, a new 6K PR. Valby’s and Shapiro’s performances earned them First and Second Team All-SEC honors, respectively. Parker Valby also earned Women’s National Athlete of the Week from the USTFCCCA for her performance. On the men’s side, Cavan Wilson crossed the line first for the Gators with a time of 24:44.52, a new PR in the 8K.
