11/20/2023 | BaseballBOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic Vice President and Director of Athletics Brian White announced on Monday a $300,000 gift for the FAU baseball program from Boca Raton resident Russell Berman. The gift, approved by the FAU Board of Trustees, will fund a series of fan-experience enhancements at FAU Baseball Stadium.”We are extremely thankful for the support of Russell, his brother Ted and the Berman Law Group for this gracious philanthropic gift to baseball,” said White. “Our baseball program, under the direction of head coach John McCormack, has consistently been one of the elite programs at FAU. Coach Mac’s teams win at a high level, and more importantly, are first-class representatives of the University both on and off the field. A life-long baseball fan himself, Russell recognizes that success, and we are grateful for his gift that impacts our program for years to come.”Berman’s generosity helps fund the creation of the Berman Zone down the left field line. The zone will include cabana-style seating – similar to that at field level for football at FAU Stadium – along with a number of other fan and family-friendly enhancements to the left-field seating area. Complete plans for the project have yet to be announced.”I grew up in a baseball family and my brother Ted and I have always been supportive of baseball at all levels,” said Russell Berman. “We are thrilled for this opportunity to support FAU Baseball and Coach Mac by creating the Berman Zone. We are very passionate to continue giving back to the FAU and Boca Raton communities and to help continue to grow the game of baseball.”In 15 years leading the Owls baseball program, McCormack has guided FAU to four regular season conference championships, one postseason conference championship and qualified for NCAA Regionals six times.”We are thrilled to receive this generous gift from the Berman Law Group,” said McCormack. “I know Russell and his brother Ted are lifelong baseball fans, and we are excited that they chose to help our program. Their incredible donation will elevate our fans’ experiences and add to our gameday atmosphere.”Berman’s gift marks the 30th donation of six figures or more that has been secured by the Department of Athletics in White’s tenure.   |
