American Athletic Conference Announces Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball awards for the week ending Sunday, November 19.

Player of the Week

Tiara Young, Gr., G, SMU

Young scored her 1,000th career point in the Mustang’s win over Nicholls, scoring 24 points in the victory. Against No. 5/7 Colorado, Young scored 30 points, including going 12-15 from the free throw line.

Freshman of the Week

Vittoria Blasigh, Fr., G, South Florida

Blasigh averaged 21 points per game across three games for the Bulls. She scored a weekend high 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting in the win over North Florida and 21 points on 6-of-9 shooting in a win over Grambling.

Weekly Honor Roll

Aniya Hubbard, So., G, Florida Atlantic

Hubbard averaged 24 points and 5.5 rebounds in a pair of wins for the Owls. She has scored over 20 points in all three games this season.

DesiRay Kernal, Gr., F, North Texas

Kernal averaged 16 points and nine rebounds to help the Mean Green go 2-0 on the week. She had a 17 point, 14 rebound effort in the win over SFA.

Kyra White, Sr., G, UTSA

White stuffed the stat sheet, averaging 11.5 points, 6 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game in a pair of wins for the Roadrunners.

Kyren Whittington, R-Jr., G, Tulane

Whittington drove the Green Wave to a pair of wins, averaging 15.5 points, six rebounds and two steals on the week.

Delanie Crawford, Jr., G, Tulsa

Crawford scored 23 points and brought down seven rebounds in the Golden Hurricane game against Oral Roberts.
