FIU News: Two Panther Programs Claim C-USA Academic Awards

DALLAS (July 14, 2020) – FIU had two programs top the Conference USA in team GPA, as men’s soccer and women’s swimming and diving led the league for their respective sports. 

The C-USA Sport Academic Award honors one team in each conference-sponsored sport with the highest GPA for the academic year.

For the spring semester, the swimming and diving program earned the highest GPA on FIU’s campus, after posting a 3.90. The men’s soccer program earned the highest male GPA on campus, after posting a 3.78. In addition, FIU posted a record-high 66 student-athletes with a 4.0 or higher for the term. 

Earlier this spring, FIU student-athletes posted a conference-high 282 members on the C-USA honor roll (3.0 GPA or higher). The achievement marked the second-straight year FIU has led the conference in total honor roll members. The FIU women’s track program led the athletic department with 33 members on the honor roll list, with the football program boasting 30 to place second overall at FIU.
