DALLAS (Oct. 26, 2020) – FIU men’s basketball released its Conference USA slate on Monday. The league’s Board of Directors approved the 2020-21 C-USA schedule with the focus on student-athletes’ health and safety.

This season, the league moves to a new 18-game regular season format for conference play. In this format, schools play two games per visit at four select C-USA schools and host four select teams for a two-game series while playing a rival opponent once each home and away.
The FIU men’s basketball team hosts Old Dominion on Dec. 31 and Jan. 2 to open the season. Middle Tennessee, FAU, Marshall and Charlotte highlight the rest of January’s conference slate, with the Panthers welcoming the Owls (Jan. 14) and Thundering Herd (Jan. 21 & Jan. 23) during the month.
Moving into February, FIU plays UTSA, UTEP, Southern Miss and WKU. The Panthers host the Roadrunners (Feb. 4 & Feb. 6) and Golden Eagles (Feb. 18 & Feb. 20) during the month.
The 2021 C-USA Basketball Championships presented by the Baylor, Scott & White Sports Performance Center at The Star are scheduled for March 10-13 in Frisco, Texas. The top 12 regular season finishers in conference play qualify for the tournament, with the winner earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
The 2020-21 season marks FIU’s third season under head coach Jeremy Ballard. Overall, the Panthers are 39-27 with Ballard at the helm, and the 39 victories mark the most wins in any two years in program history.
