Green, 29, moved back to FIU this offseason following a two-year stint with Johns Hopkins. While in Baltimore, Green served as defensive coordinator during a 2019 season in which the Blue Jays surrendered just 17.8 points per game en route to a 12-2 record and a conference championship. The year prior, he was the team’s special teams coordinator for a Blue Jay group that reached the NCAA semifinals for the first time. Green last worked at FIU in 2017 as a graduate assistant during Butch Davis‘ first season with the program.

FIU will open its 2020 season at Liberty on Saturday, Sept. 26, as the Panthers travel to Lynchburg, Virginia, to take on the Flames at 1 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on ESPN3. The Blue & Gold opens its home slate at Riccardo Silva Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 10, against Middle Tennessee. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. ET.
