“We are pleased to honor another impressive group of athletes as part of this year’s Hampshire Honor Society,” said NFF President & CEO Steve Hatchell. “For more than a decade, the Hampshire Honor Society has served as a powerful vehicle for schools to recognize their college football players who have distinguished themselves both academically and athletically, and we congratulate the schools and each of these young men for their commitment to excellence in all aspects of their lives.”

Morgan becomes the third Panther since 2007 to earn a spot on this list, with FIU’s Chris Patullo in 2007 and Paul McCall in 2010 making the cut. Among 2020 honorees, Morgan joins fellow prolific quarterbacks Joe Burrow of LSU, Jalen Hurts of Oklahoma and Justin Herbert of Oregon on the list.

The Green Bay native was named a semifinalist for the prestigious William V. Campbell Trophy last season. Known as the “Academic Heisman”, the award recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership. Morgan also won C-USA’s Spirit of Service Award in each of his two years at FIU, which is a league honor that recognizes a student-athlete’s significant community service endeavors, good academic standing and participation in their elected sport.

On the field, Morgan led the Panthers to back-to-back bowl games and threw for 40 touchdowns in only two seasons to rank third all-time in program history. Morgan racked up over 5,000 career passing yards at FIU as well to rank third, while his 143.4 passer rating with the Panthers set a new school record. Following his time with the Blue & Gold, Morgan earned the Pat Tillman Award prior to his successful week at the East-West Shrine Game and was invited to the 2020 NFL Combine, gaining national buzz from media and scouts.
