FIU Football News: Football Suspends Spring Practice

MIAMI (March 13, 2020) – Due to the rapidly evolving situation regarding COVID-19, FIU football will suspend its spring practice until further notice, Head Coach Butch Davis announced on Friday.

The Panthers were set to begin spring practice on Monday, March 16.

“The health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches and staff is our number one priority,” Davis said. “We are working closely with medical experts on best practices to prevent, contain and minimize the impact of this virus. We will continue to further educate our team on all the prevention measures they can take to protect themselves and their loved ones.”

FIU’s Junior Days and Coaching Clinics have been canceled as well. At an appropriate time, that decision could be reassessed.

“With classes at FIU switching to remote instruction until at least April 4, our focus is helping transition our players to online courses and making that process as seamless as possible,” Davis said.
