MIAMI (Jan. 27, 2021) – The 2021 FIU football schedule was unveiled on Wednesday afternoon, following the league office announcing the full Conference USA composite slate for next season.
FIU’s 12-game schedule features an even split of home and away games, with six each in 2021. The Panthers will play Long Island, Texas State, Charlotte, WKU, Old Dominion and North Texas at home, while traveling to Texas Tech, Central Michigan, FAU, Marshall, Middle Tennessee and Southern Miss.
It is important to note that all games are subject to date changes and some dates are expected to move in the coming weeks in order to accommodate national television. A schedule of televised games will be released at a later date.
FIU kicks off the 2021 season against Long Island on Thursday, Sept. 2, as the Panthers open a new season of football at Riccardo Silva Stadium. FIU will continue the non-conference slate at home the following week, with a home contest against Texas State on Sept. 11.
FIU opens up a three-game road swing against Big 12 foe Texas Tech on Sept. 18, marking the first matchup against the Red Raiders since 2005. After the road opener, the Panthers travel to Central Michigan on Sept. 25 and Florida Atlantic on Oct. 2, before a bye week on Oct. 16.
Following the bye week, FIU gets into the meat of its C-USA slate as the Panthers wrap up the month of October against WKU on Oct. 23 and at Marshall on Oct. 30. FIU hosts ODU on Nov. 6 and travels to Middle Tennessee to conclude divisional play.
FIU faces North Texas and Southern Miss as cross-division foes to close out the year, with the Panthers hosting the Mean Green on Nov. 20 and closing out the regular season on the road against the Golden Eagles on Nov. 27.
Conference USA’s 17th annual Championship Game, pitting the champions of the East and West Divisions, is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 4.
