FIU FB News: FIU Returns Home to Host Old Dominion

MIAMI (Nov. 4, 2021) – To open the final month of the regular season, the FIU Football team is set to play host to the visiting Old Dominion Monarchs of Saturday, November 6th. Kickoff from FIU Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

The contest can be streamed on ESPN+ where “Voice of the Panthers” AJ Ricketts will have the call with Patrick Murray. Corey Brooks can be heard on the Panthers’ new radio home Univision’s WQBA 1140 AM. For complete game notes, click here

AMONG THE BEST
Quarterback Max Bortenschlager enters the conference match up ranked in the top 50 in seven different statistical categories including being second in the nation for passing yards per completion. The senior’s 17.51 yards ranks second in the standings behind the 17.78 yards of Grayson McCall from Coastal Carolina. Pacing the nation is wide receiver Tyrese Chambers, whose 26.28 yards per reception ranks first in the country.

LAST TIME OUT
The Panthers fell 38-0 to the Marshall Thundering Herd on the road to close out the month of October.

SCOUTING THE MONARCHS
The Monarchs of Old Dominion enter this weekend’s match up with a 2-6 overall record and are 1-3 in conference play. ODU ranks 60th nationally in rushing offense, averaging 168.8 yards per game on the ground. The Monarchs also rank 49th in the country in totally defense only surrendering 354.5 yards a contest. The visitors from Norfolk downed Louisiana Tech, 23-20 on Oct. 30 for the programs first win over a FBS team since 2018.
