FIU FB News: FIU Football Concludes 2021 Season at Southern Miss

MIAMI – (Nov. 24, 2021) – To close out the 2021 season, the FIU Football team travels to Southern Miss for the first time since the 2013 season. Kickoff is slated for 3 P.M. ET from M.M. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg.

DIRECT FLIGHTS ONLY 
Senior QB Max Bortenschlager is on pace to have one of the best statistical seasons a Panther QB has had in program history. The signal-caller currently needs 95 yards to break Alex McGough’s 2017 passing record of 2,798 yards in a single season.

The Panthers fell 49-7 to North Texas on November 20.
 
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES
The Golden Eagles of Southern Miss enter this weekend’s match up with a 2-9 overall record and are 1-6 in conference play. USM ranks 46th nationally in total defense, only allowing 355.5 yards per game. The Golden Eagles are also tied for 23th in the country for pass defense surrendering 199.4 yards a contest.
 
Southern Miss is coming off of a 35-19 win over Louisiana Tech on November 19th.
