Fire Marshall of the Year Award

The Florida Fire Chief’s Association has awarded Pompano Beach Fire Rescue Fire Marshal Peter McGinnis with the 2021 Fire Marshal of the Year Award.

This award honors a fire marshal who has demonstrated a commitment to reduce losses associated with fire, proactive inspection programs, and other innovative efforts that reduce the threat of fire in his community. Because of the dedication and efforts of Fire Marshal McGinnis, the City of Pompano Beach, City of Lighthouse Point and surrounding businesses and residents are protected above and beyond the minimum requirements of the State Fire Code.

In addition to his recruiting, training and management responsibilities, Fire Marshal McGinnis was instrumental in the success of, and played a daily vital role in one of the largest Broward County COVID-19 vaccination Point of Distribution (POD) centers which was located at the Pompano Citi Centre.

Fire Marshal McGinnis is known as the “go to guy” for difficult situations and major projects such as building our new Fire Stations, Emergency Operations Centers, Community Centers, and new Fire Training Center construction projects. His ability to overcome challenges and create win-win situations for developers, contractors and the City is unmatched.
