FAU Women’s Basketball Downs Nova Southeastern in Exhibition

BOCA RATON, Fla. – (Nov. 2, 2019) – The Florida Atlantic University women’s basketball team showcased a dominating performance Saturday afternoon, winning convincingly against Nova Southeastern in the exhibition, 91-65. Three different Owls put up double digits, including newcomers Crystal Primm (23) and Lotta Vehka-Aho (21), as well as returner Juliette Gauthier (18).

How It Was Decided:

  • Before tipoff, the Owls got off to a rough start, as they were charged with a team technical foul to send NSU to the line
  • After starting the game down 3-0, the Owls quickly recovered and would then never trail for the remainder of the contest. With a little over three minutes left to play in the first quarter, the Owls were up big, 21-4
  • The second quarter commenced with Gauthier hitting one from deep to extend the Owls lead, 32-16. The Owls would continue to dominate before the half, as Primm banked one from three to go into the locker room at half with 18 points
  • FAU had a slow third quarter, as they were outscored by the Sharks 20-14
  • The Owls would turn it around in the fourth, outscoring NSU 21-14. Vehka-Aho cashed in 10 of her 21 points on the day in the final quarter of play, as she was a perfect 4-4 from the field

Game Notes:

  • Primm was just shy of a double-double, racking up a game-leading 23 points and nine rebounds. The graduate transfer was also 3-4 from beyond the arc
  • Vehka-Aho posted up great numbers in her Owl debut, as she recorded 21 points, five assists and five steals. She also played in all but three minutes of the game
  • Gauthier was one of three Owls in double digits, as she scored 18 points and added six boards
  • In her second season, Glenisha Harkless was just short of double digits, tallying nine points and four steals
