OWLS’ WEEKEND IN PREVIEW

FAU (8-9) will open the weekend with a doubleheader against Purdue (7-9) starting at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Owls hold a 6-5 edge in the head-to-head series against the Boilermakers dating back to 2002. The Owls will then face Delaware (8-5) and Illinois State (3-10) once each on Saturday and Sunday.

FAU’S WEEK IN REVIEW

The Owls will look to build off the momentum of a doubleheader sweep over St. John’s on Tuesday. FAU took the doubleheader in decisive fashion, winning game one 10-0, then game two 4-0.

In game one, the FAU bats exploded for a season-high 10 runs, which is the most it has scored as a team since the 12 against North Florida on April 28, 2021.

NOTABLE STARTS

FAU is led at the dish by Sara Berthiaume, who is hitting .391 which ranks seventh among all players in Conference USA. Berthiaume leads the conference in triples with three, while Sommer Baker is tied for second in three-baggers with two.

Lynn Gardner has led the Owls in a circle, and the senior left-hander owns a 1.26 ERA. That ranks her fourth among all players in the conference. Gardner has tossed six complete games for FAU.

SIUE ON TUESDAY

Following this weekend’s games, the Owls will face SIUE on Tuesday, March 8. First pitch of the single header will be at noon.
