FAU Men’s Basketball Announces Signing Class

BOCA RATON, Fla. – (Nov. 19, 2019)  Florida Atlantic University head men’s basketball coach Dusty May has announced the signing of two student-athletes for the 2020-21 season.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Giancarlo Rosado and Johnell “Nelly” Davis to our Florida Atlantic Family,” said Coach May. “Both Giancarlo and Nelly come from highly respected high school and AAU programs that have prepared them to play college basketball at a high level.”

Rosado is a 6-foot-8 forward from nearby Palm Beach Lakes High School who averaged 20 points and seven rebounds per game as a junior and was named All-Palm Beach County by both the Palm Beach Post and Sun-Sentinel. The Rams finished last season with a 20-5 record and advanced to the regional quarterfinals. Rosado also led his AAU team, Each 1 Teach 1 in scoring on the Nike EYBL circuit.

“Giancarlo is an extremely skilled forward who has the ability to score the ball and really fits our style of play,” May stated. “It is important for us to recruit the state of Florida, and in particular Palm Beach County. In signing Giancarlo, we are adding one of the best players in our area to our roster.”

Davis is a 6-4 guard from Gary, Indiana. Davis averaged 25 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.4 steals and 3.2 assists per game last year, helping the Cougars to a fourth straight sectional championship. He made the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Underclass All-State Supreme 15. Davis was named to the Nike EYBL All-Defensive team for his AAU program, Indy Heat. He also led the team in rebounding.

“With the signing of Nelly, we are adding a versatile guard who brings both size and an ability to play on both ends of the floor,” May noted. “He will be able to greatly impact the game with his physicality and ability to rebound, especially on the defensive end.”
